I bought this early last year from a T.C member and it was in good shape but missing lots of parts. I hadn't realised quite how many parts needed to be bought or how much they were going to cost. I have spent at least another £150 on top of the purchase price even with a bit of wheeling and dealing and it's not finished yet. I have so far bought 4 tyres, 2 headlamps, 2 indicators, a set of windows, 1 ESC, 1 motor and pinion, a rubber motor cover, 2 hubs, a bull bar, a boot badge, 2 number plates and 3 servo rods. These old 3 speeds will hit your wallet hard...they really should come with a health warning of some sort.

Quality as you well know so kinda worth the mad prices. You must have about 4 of these now? Nice example. J

Looking good so far buddy and had the same problem with my blazer but being honest it was more rewarding getting it finished piece by piece as opposed to being complete to start with. .. more expensive though : ( .

There are a few bits offered by Simensays on Shapeways for these, could help complete it perhaps?? I know I will need a bull bar for mine when the time comes to rebuild it, but that is just the start.

That's a stunner. Collecting parts is like completing a Panini sticker album. Very rewarding

Lovely example Grumps! I hope to lay my hands on one of these one day but I have no intention of paying the kinds of prices I see them go for. With the mountaineer soon available, it seems just a matter of time and this one will likely also happen.

Cheer Up Grumps - LOL - Looks fab and well worth the effort, finding and fitting the parts is all part of the fun, spent a fortune on my Sand Scorchers and RR's historically for them to be RR'd but enjoyed every minute of it- Keep going fella and always a pleasure to see what you are up to.

Hey hot rod, thank you buddy, I really like your way of thinking. It's a bit like an expensive jigsaw! Hi Crash Cramer that's a great tip, thank you. I've still got a few bits too buy I'll check them out. Thanks RallyeBaz that's a good way to think, I like that idea. It's a pity I can't get my kids collecting parts as well.

Hi simensays, thank you and I'm looking forward to seeing the photos of you resto as well. Ahh RACECRAFTERS, thank you for checking my Hilux out and your comments! I'm not convinced this one will be ReRe'd. I think it will be too expensive and is out classed by newer better models to be worth Mr Ts effort!

Hello VHF, I appreciate your feedback, thank you. I'm not sure which one to run, one of the four will go soon as I think 3 is plenty! Hi Doc007, thank you for your kind words and positive comments. I've cheered up no end with all the really up beat feedback. There is a lot of satisfaction in collecting the parts and enjoying the almost finished article! Thanks MAD-BEE, I'm sure one will make its way to you! Your wife is doing very well at sniffing out some Tam bargains!

Grumpy pants , hats off to you for restoring this part of rc history. I completely sympathize with you about these things hitting your wallet. If I was married my wife would have divorced me by now for all the money I've spent on vintage and non vintage rc's. And then there is all the money I've spent on die casts that just sit static in boxes in storage.
