The Skelly Dread Sisters
Believe it or not, this did actually begin life as a Baja King. I acquired the NIB kit somewhen far back in the mists of time, probably because it was on sale. It sat in box and was gradually raided for spares.
Then, around 2 years ago, my local race club held a Halloween Car competition. My brain went haywire and this is what happened.
Shell is a HPI Graverobber with my first ever attempt at airbrush detailing. The ghostly teardrops are a mix of silver metalflake and fluorescent green (not sure what brand but it wasn't Tamiya), shot very thinly. The entire shell was given a very light misting of silver metalflake for added depth, then covered entirely in black and detailed with the kit decals.
Wheels are old Tamiya stock, originally white but coated in the same flouro green then given a light dusting of silver metalflake and flouro green for a nice ghostly shimmer.
Chassis is mostly Baja King, but uses TL01 touring front arms and M04 rear arms to narrow the track, as the HPI shell tapers towards the rear.
The Skelly Dread Sisters inside are actually made from those little clippy koala toys that people insist in bringing back from Australia - de-furred, painted white with a light dusting of green and injected with yellow-green woollen dreadlocks.
Coffin and interior made from plasticard; interior covered in some imitation velvet stuff that my fiancé had lying around.
Sadly this car was beaten to first place by another car with the same shell, which didn't have any airbrushing or interior or customised chassis but did have lots of LED lights stuck all over it - lights win prizes ;)
Never used in anger but always with pride of place on the shelf, this is definitely one of my favourite customised models.

DJP780, unfortunately I didn't win the competition - another member bought the same shell, painted it black, stuck it over a TT01 and covered it with flashing LEDs - the judging area was quite dark and I don't think anybody noticed my stunning interior efforts Still, it's about having fun, not winning prizes
