Lego Super Hotshot
Decided to combine two of my hobbies together and thought some folks here might find it interesting. I am an avid lego builder and had thought about building some Tamiya cars for a while now. Here is the first, a modified Super Hotshot (with Hotshot 2 rear suspension mod). This is 100% lego bar the tyres, window nets and stickers. I wanted to make it more realistic under the body so designed it like a real dune buggy might look like with a V8, battery and nitrous tank etc. Has full steering, 4WD and diffs.

Wow, love it... I didn't noticed at first that it was a lego car. Great build.
Klausen
That's pretty cool, well done.
Cooltoys
That looks awesome for a Lego.. I almost thought it was a real one if you didn't mention it...
Tamichael
That´s amazing !!! Hope to see other projects soon !!!

This should be noticed by Lego, they should release this as a building kit. It just looks very awesome and very unique.

Amazing work. Did you keep count of the hours spent to make this masterpiece?
scalamon
Absolutely stunning! What's next!?
TamTom
Fantastic piece of art! You should send pictures from tis car and the original Super Hot shot to Lego.
Crash Cramer
HOLY CRAP, I want one of a red HOT SHOT please. I doubt you are taking orders, but you never know, on this site, you might get a bunch of requests.
stulec52
I did the old double take there !
are you kidding me?

Thanks all for the very kind comments! To answer some of your questions; Parts count I think is around 1000 at a rough guess, perhaps a few more. Next up, I have started a Frog and am definitely thinking of doing a red Hotshot. Honestly the limitation on the Shot cars is the shocks. they are so rare (they cost about £20 each). No other lego shocks are bulky enough to look scale. Would lego be interested? Perhaps not with Tamiya being a kind of competitor but Lego do now have the 'Ideas' program. If you get 10,000 votes on their website they take the model to a formal review for making into a set...so you never know if there is enough support i might put it up there! thanks again all!

Oh and Crash Cramer, perhaps orders at some point, let me get a red hotshot done and see how it looks

That is remarkable. Love it. My daughter is a lego fiend now and I have to admit I loved helping her build Benny's spaceship over Christmas. Great work!
Rick_Sammler
I'm speechless. It's one of the best creations inspired by RC I've seen. It really deserves to be acclaimed by Lego.
Puffdog
Wow, this is amazing!!! I too love lego but i have never built a custom project...rather just the kit example. I think one of the vintage 3 - Speeds should be next for you.
MAD-BEE
You could be onto something with this??
A Tamiya Lego series! or Lego Tamiya series
Fantastic!!!! I will not look at Lego in the same way again!
SHY69
Holy mother of GOD! That's soooo cool!!!
Crash Cramer
I personally think the wing on this thing is a serious work of art, that doesn't look all that easy to have put together.
neobrunox
AWESOME ! it is so close to the original, you are genious

DUDE, THIS IS AN AMAZING PIECE OF WORK! I first thought it was just another Supershot post but you have impressed al of us very much. Have tp agree with Crash-Cramer about the red Hotshot as next project on the list hahaha
sonicdeath
Wow guys, I can't thank you all enough for the comments, hugely appreciated. Looks like a red Hotshot needs to go to the top of the queue! I was looking forward to working out the rear suspension in lego anyway, I like a challenge
Crash Cramer
So, since the shocks are hard to find, what part number are they??? Maybe, just maybe, they have them near me at the Lego Store or something like that. Do they come in other colors??? I know, a little paint never hurt anyone, but just thought I would ask and if you need some decals for the HotShot, I will see what I can find around here.
mr alan
Fantastic! Wow! I say do a Wild Willy! (the Tamiya one...)
sonicdeath
Thanks Crash Cramer, the shocks are not made anymore, they were in a couple of models from 7-8 years ago only. They came in grey and yellow, I have another 6 so the HotShot will be OK
after those though there are very few left on the market unfortunately, and it hurts to spend £20 on each one
I will definitely paint them red, needs to look right. I have a re re sticker set lying around but I appreciate the offer. I will crack on with it!
IBIFTKH
Just wow, that's awesome.
RallyeBaz
That is epic. Top work. Lego Blazing Blazer here I come lol

Very cool, recently looking for new Lego kit to buy
Nothing intersting maybe the new 24 hours race car that's coming next month but this one I would buy so please submit to the Lego idea program sure you get lots of supporters here. Might need to remove the tamiya logo and name though.

Like others have commented...I also thought this was just another Supershot so did not click on it immediately. I had no idea it was Lego!! Simply incredible creativity...Mr Tamiya and Mr Lego should get together and issue these. Absolutely superb!
Doc007
After building soo much Lego with the boys over Christmas that they got this year for Christmas - I really hooked also- LOL. Love this, Amazing. Lego is so clever and this is a super mix of the 2 hobbies - think loads would be interested so take a punt at Lego page fella. Well done and Enjoy.

What can I say that hasn't already been said.... W O W! Amazing work! I'm speechless!
njmlondon
Had to come back and have another look at this. It is too cool. I think that the next photo competition should be Lego-Tamiya. Although you probably have the prize already won!
sonicdeath
Thanks all for again the kind words! I think i will look at putting it on Lego ideas. Once I have I will perhaps start a forum topic to see if I can drum up support!
Progress on the Hotshot is going better than expected, spent many hours working out a way of replicating the rear suspension and making it actually work. Lots of trial and error but have managed it. Cracking on with the rest now.
dr.roberts
Amazing job! Never thought it turned out so clean & tidy. Congrates on your work.
Crash Cramer
