I've had a few inquiries about my bone stock Pajero/Montero so I thought I would outline the steps here. Most parts necessary to build an old school Pajero is included in the Montero kit already. Additional Grasshopper PARTS needed: front and rear springs, uprights, tie rod ends OR Grasshopper spring bag (9400274); Tie rods OR Grasshopper rod bag (9400275); axle mounts (Parts #10, 11) OR Grasshopper B parts (0005069); damper shafts (one pair) OR Grasshopper screw bag C (9465654) & a large rubber band. Tools: Hobby saw or a rotary tool with a cut off disk; a drill and drill bits; Bench vise; a set of decent metric tap and die set. I used: http://www.lowes.com/pd_63758-281-1765541_0__?productId=3733021 Cheaper ones are only meant to RE-THREAD screws that are cross threaded. They need to be of reasonable quality in order to carve new threads on a shaft.

Stock damper from A-parts, GH springs and shaft 2 Servo mounts 3mm>6mm<3mm; & 2mm v Cut long Montero shaft at 55mm Cut damper cylinder A or B to 19mm Tap threads with 3mmx0.5 die Thread about 5mm 1 Installation -Do not over torque. 1 Alternatives: front CVA mini & Hornet rear setup 1 Alternatives: 4 wheel independent setup 1 I've got too many of these....

Nice write up of the mods you've been doing. Currently i'm restoring an Original pajero. They are very nice little rides, love the simplicity and also the looks.

Nice work . I've just converted my Camel Pajero into a Montero type hi-lift

Kev, your Camel is probably the best looking Paj here on TC. You should do a video of that thing running!

Addicted2blue, the original Paj is my favorite! They are quite horrible on rough terrain but they're fun to run. Hope your project goes well

Love it! I 3D printed some lower mounts to adapt the hornet rears to the Pajero without a single mod. They worked great. I love the front end mod to get the modern chassis to work.

Thanks Sturge. You've got an excellent collection as well. You should have kept that Audi
Pintopower, how stong are those parts made from 3D printer? I would like to give that a try

Just saw your question about 3D printed parts. They are incredibly strong. I have a modifed Hornet with almost all of the suspension 3D printed and it has been bullet proof. Email me if you have any questions. I also did a mod on my Pajero with 3D printed light lenses and buckets.

You just got my old Fart Brain working....
I've pieced together a roller CW-01 Chassis, never getting around to a Body! I've already added @Pintopower's 3D Double Wishbone Front Suspension which is TOUGH. And almost makes this comical Chassis handle like a real RC!!! 😜
THIS is something I never thought of. What a great idea! I just have to figure out HOW to mount the front of the Body - IF I can even afford one...

That sounds like a fun project!
The standard front body mounts for the Montero should work just fine.
Or, you can add a tab on the chassis like the original Pajero chassis had. The Pajero mounts on the body side is included when you purchase the body.
You can make a tab with thick lexan sheet (cut with saw, mount on vise and bend with heat gun ). Check out the manual for the original Pajero.
Hope it goes well

That is awesome. I'd love to see more details of your IRS setup!

Hi! I am really curious as to what parts and how you did the independent rear suspension setup. If it it's okay with you to share your modifications. I also have a Pajero wheelie but really wanted to convert it similar to the vintage machine but using modern parts (such as using wheels with hex fit). I hope it's okay for you to share your work. Thanks in advance!

Glad to find another Pajero lover.!! Unfortunately, I don't remember any details about the modification. Looks like I did that one 14 years ago. LOL
There are some more photos here. [Click here]
Good luck
