my porsche 959 restoration
Hi folks,
here is my latest project / restoration. I have wanted a Porsche 959 for a long time and decided that now is a good time to start one. I won a chassis on ebay to start the project off but when i received it i found it was in worse shape than i thought, all of the wishbones were broken, chassis was cracked and kind of melted in places, front bumper was missing, shocks were knackered, m.s.c. was u/s. the only good bits were the front and rear gearboxes....just my luck...lol. So anyway on with the resto, I had a few good spares hanging around so have encorporated them in this rebuild. so far the rear gearbox has been stripped, cleaned, greased and rebuilt. I have bought some spares off Visa_King..thanks Raj. these will virtually complete the rebuild. there is also a team bluegroove shell ready for painting. it has the original technigold motor but its had a hard life so im in the process of restoring that too. so thats it so far. this is going to be a light runner so it doesn't have to be perfect. ive also got another porsche on the way which i plan to restore to shelf queen standard but by god there expensive.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Quick update. got the runner shell painted today. still needs the wing doing and lots more detailing. Not overly impressed with the repro decals, quite rough and starting to peel off already! oh well.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Update number 2 as of 25/01/15. I've almost finished the chassis, looking just about complete. had some team bluegroove decals through the post so will be stripping off these ones and putting those on tomorrow. Gave it a quick spin in the lounge and it goes very well so its all good so far. will post more pics when its finally done.

Youch, that is the story with these for me too, way to expensive to afford to do one up the way I would want it, I had one in my grubby little claws about 13 years ago, but sold it off as I figured I would never find a shell befitting it, how I wish I could have seen the future then. Oh well, there are other cars out there I might get my hands on now.
I love the first pic, but I am a sucker for X-Ray machines.

Great project, I have an original minty x-ray shell with Rothmans Decals but no minty Chassis to go with it unfortunately.. yet .. LOL. Really like this car and think a clear shell on it shows off a really complex chassis - If only I had one - Great Job fella

I would love one of these to run! Must be fun to drive? Suspension looks neat with those odd looking shocks! Very nice

You've already done a great job getting this 959 back to working order, one of my favourite from Tamiya's historic lineup! Hope the parts I sent you help you finish it as planned.
