Last of the GH2 chassis buggies? [SOLD]
ICE Fighter.
Could this be the last of the GH2 chassis buggies?.
2015 seems to have started with this buggies demise, not a bad run from 2008
Maybe Tamiya will relaunch it with a red plastic body and a different name, who knows?!
UPDATE 04/03/2015
Seems to have come back! But for how long?
Great news though, get one at Fusion!
UPDATE 12/01/2016
It's still available from stockists!
Updated pics using new camera
UPDATE 28/07/2016
Swapped blue new build for a Dual Hunter project but have built another to replace it
Pics to follow once motor arrives
UPDATE 31/08/2016
New build backup runner pics up!
Gun metal colour scheme with short shocks all around
Grey plastic coloured astral wheels from a DT02 Titan finish the look
UPDATE 22/04/2017
Moved into projects while I obtain shapeways parts for a special build
UPDATE 27/06/2017
Have a clear gearbox ready for rebuild, keeping the gun metal theme, will order more ampro shapeways parts at the end of the year
UPDATE 04/02/2018
After nearly a year of conversation, my custom AMPRO engineering parts have arrived
'ICE' Fighter can begin shortly, need to tap the holes ready for screws
The coloured gears don't seem to appear often on sale so may dye the existing set for the gearbox
Would like a bumper and wheels in clear eventually (as much as possible!)
Clear parts are fantastic quality but for display only
UPDATE 03/11/2018
Finally finish the 'ICE' Fighter clear parts display version.
I have dyed the gear set red and green and also the steering ball connectors and uprights green
If you are thinking of ordering an Ampro gearbox stabilizer piece, tap the holes and use machine screws!
Using self tappers was a nightmare, really tight.

Simple things in life are just as rewarding as more expensive complicated things. This is especially true of the Rising Fighter. I just hope Tamiya continues the Rising Fighter story.........
Nice clean and precise build mate

its got Grasshopper/Hornet DNA so that's good enough for me!!😀
I can,t see this chassis not being used again one day mate! 😉

You know, no one claims a solid axle buggy is a good one. The thing is, I was at the track last week with my other racing hornet (the stock one) running pin spikes on clay. As you can imagine, the car was a mess to navigate around the track. But the thing is, I was laughing so hard as I was driving it that the tears in my eyes made it hard(er) to drive the car around the track. I was telling the guy next to me how great of a car it is, except for a couple of problems. First off, any kind of steering input throws the car off. Second, acceleration is the cars enemy. It also can't go straight at all, nor can it turn. He looked at me like I was a crazy man. Fact of the matter is, you don't laugh and have fun like that unless your car has a solid axle and no racing prowess at all. I hope Tamiya never kills off the solid axle buggy.

Nice build you have to love these buggies most of us had a solid axle buggy at least once generally as a starter car and often a used and abused one at that but they have plenty of charm...
@pintopower you just hit the nail on the head

It looks really good in grey/silver. Much better than the stick blue imo. Nice job
