The Avante 2001 re:re is almost done! Now trial fitting the body set I have stumbled across a few issues and remedies. 1. First and foremost the Egress 2013 front shock mounts was already a tight fit for the Egress body. Despite the instruction manual stating the front Avante 2001 nose section can fit through it still bewilders me as it doesn't without scratching the begeezus out of it! The solution was to go rightfully back to vintage and used a Pargu2000 sourced black finish alloy 2001 shock mounts(see pics 2&3). Nicely finished in black and barely noticeable against the sea of black. Mounting is pretty much as per vintage except 2. the front upper arms still mounted as per Egress 2013 setup but I raised the mounting using 3mm spacers to clear the screw mounts(see pic3). Alteration to geometry is negligible. Next is 3. the re:re cockpit(see pics 4,5,6), this time mounted onto the chassis has presented another issue highlighted by Tamiya. The instruction manual advised to cut the front portion of the cockpit by 5mm and in my point of view not only sacrilege and will create an unsightly gap between the body and cockpit. Seriously all the effort to clear the silly steering rod! Solution was to add 2x3mm spacers and not only that did the trick clearing more than enough space for the rod it closed the gap between cockpit and body making for a perfect fit. Finally 4. the clearance of the rear of the nose and front upper arms(see pics 7-10). That I can say there's pretty much no choice but I minimised the amount to cut so tolerances are close so that its not obvious that it has been cut. Finally I used the Vanquish/Avante 2001 long bumper completes the pure 2001 look! Next is what colour to choose? And wheels?? (Lightweight wheels, original Avante design or DF-03's? Thanks for looking and comments appreciated!

1. Trial fitting has highlighted a few issues 2. 3mm spacer help lift for better clearances.... 3. With proper 2001 mounts it fits better! 4. x2 3mm spacers lift clearances 5. Ridiculous to cut 5mm off the cockpit! 6. A nicer fit! 7. Minimal cutting of the rear nose 8. How am I going to fit the nose in that!????!? 9. Almost there, now what colour? 10. Keeping it real Avante 2001!

The color must be the PS16 metallic blue. The wheels must be original Avante white rims. If you don't find them the solution is orange Avante rims. I believe this is not a runner but a shelfer, right? You could paint in white the Avante rims.

@ kontemax: Agreed and I have the original white wheels. The thing is I have two vintage examples done in box art so with this re:re i'd like to go a different tangent to break out the monotony. Nevertheless appreciate the advice mate!
