Finally finishing up my shelfer Super Champ
Now that I feel some weight lighted from my shoulders by selling off some of my unfinished projects I've been able to feel free to work on some long overdue items - like applying the decals to the excellent, intact original Super Champ body that came with my great Super Champ score a few years back (see link at bottom of page).
It also helped that I was armed with a re-re body in case of total disaster as well as TWO sets of nice but non-original decals. Plus it appears that several of the re-re decals would work in case I ruined the originals. So I worked up the courage to finally give it a shot.
In case you didn't catch my How-To about sucking at painting - which I truly do - well, consider yourself informed that I am absolutely terrible at painting and only passable at applying decals. No matter how hard I try I never seem to get it all right. It doesn't help that I have an obsessive personality and every little imperfection bothers me forever!
BUT I was tired of seeing this sitting there unfinished. There are some additional bits I need to do to really make it nice - including, at least, new rear tires. It seems that the original boxed tires for this are not prohibitively expensive, so I think I'll go that route and pick up a new rear wheel / tire set and install them. The boxed fronts are another story so if I can't find affordable front tires I may add a new pair of re-re tires and leave the original wheels to match the off-white original shade. This girl is all original from soup to nuts, so if I can avoid any dilution of that I will.
Expect an update in the coming weeks!

That looks great BEEF. I agree with and empathize with you on my painting and decal skills. I might not be as OCD as you, but I am pretty darn picky. In that vein, I see that perhaps you have the wrong zip ties, I thought the ones with the oval head and metal stopper were proper for this model. I guess I will have to search mine and my spares for you.

One of the very best looking buggies ever made!

@Chris- If u find out this is the case def let me know. The ones on there currently are the ones that came on it and are probably as old as I am so I'd be inclined to say they are the correct original ones... but at the same time they are brittle and I'd prob want to replace them anyway.
@James- Thanks! Basically, it came out decent enough that if I'd bought it this way I would be happy keeping it as-is and not redoing the body. So that's as good as I'd have hoped for...

Looks like a great result I hope this Champ gives you more confidence to paint other kits in the future.

Thanks guys - there is a LONG line of poly- and hard bodies tapping their feet at me. The pain of being mid-trainwreck attempt at finishing an expensive vintage body is hard to get over after a few times, LOL!
