This is finally done. I've been meaning to do this one for about ten years! Yikes! This Fast Attack actually was my youngest brothers. He started the the whole Tamiya craze within me. 1984 he got this buggy for his birthday. He was only 10 years old and I was 14 years old. I did not know how to paint a camouflage scheme so we painted it red and black. He liked it for the most part. my middle brother joined the fun as well and my father bought us two cars each and we shared two different ones as well. between all of us we had 8 vehicles. My youngest brother was killed in a car accident in 1990 while riding his street motorcycle. Both my brothers owned street bikes. The driver in the car ran into him. Very sad. He loved all the Tamiya cars I had at that point.
Later in the 90's I repainted it a purple color and sold it to a good friend for his son to enjoy. I thought that would be fun for him to enjoy it as much as my brother did. Later in 2003 my friend gave it back to me as his son had out grown it. The arms were lost, gun and a tail light. I found the parts and bought new tires and wheels for it. The car was stripped and gone through back in 2005. It's been sitting in a box since then. I feel really bad cause it wasn't done sooner. I dedicate this buggy to my brother Kris. I know he would be proud of the job I did. I will always cherish this buggy. It turned out great and wish I could see him holding it today. Great memories these cars and trucks can bring.
Cheers!

Thank you for sharing this heartfelt story. The car looks awesome (I love FAVs) and I know your brother wherever he is now is still enjoying it, too.

Now THAT is one story worth the work. This does look great and I know he is enjoying it again from his vantage point.

Absolutely heartfelt story and nice restoration. Many TCers who've had similar experiences can relate to this story including myself. Your brother would certainly be proud of the job you did as it is a worthy tribute. Great job!

Thanks for all the comments. It is a fantastic model to have in the collection. It's very unique in it's own look and layout. Think I may have to buy one of the rerelease ones and run it.

Well done! So Sorry to hear about the loss of your brother but as others have said I'm sure he is so happy about how it looks now. Most of us are here to keep our childhood memories alive and this should be the winner for the holiday competition.
