When I was a kid, my first and only Tamiya was a Fox. I thrashed it up and down the street every weekend, dodging cars and other kids on their bmx's. There was another kid in my area with an RC car - a Frog. When he got news of my Fox arriving on the scene he came to see mine and within a few minutes of our introduction - we were lined up for a drag. I can say with honesty the Fox had his measure no problems. My mod's to the Fox were 4 ballraces to the front axles and a Trinity motor in place of the stock 540. He had done nothing with his, so it wasn't exactly oranges versus oranges; there were a few apples thrown in.
But somehow or other in racing up an down the street together, we committed the fatal error of having both cars heading towards each other at full throttle and the inevitable happened.... After surveying the carnage it was obvious the Fox came off second best, broken front suspension arms and a shock mount. The Frog was unscathed however. Now, with the benefit of wisdom 27 years later I suppose that had something to do with the crash itself and the fact that the Fox hit a concrete gutter in the process. Didn't stop us thinking at the time that Fox's were fast but brittle and Frog's were indestructible (and slow). All these years later I have been lucky enough to come across a nib Frog in good condition and very happy with it and reliving some memories.
Thanks for looking.
