Pretty in Pink!
This is another new Tamiya car that I have bought in the last couple of years that I’ve built however even though I did a showroom entry for it I did not follow it up with pictures of the finished car.
So that is something that I’m rectifying right now, There was a specific reason why I bought a Tamiya Zahak which at the time was quite a rare and expensive car to find, another thing about it that was unusual the car is shown on the Box art as having the pink wheels yet the car in the kit only comes with white wheels and part of the reason why I wanted this car was for the white wheels so I had to seek out a separate set of wheels to finish off the look of the car when I built it.
Now this car has been new built for some time, it is a runner and I got a brushless system for it that isn’t anything overly powerful but it was challenge fitting the system into the car as the thick wiring that comes out of the motor and to the ESC is rather short and quite still and the way they are soldered onto the motor can it limits your options when fitting it to a RC model car such as this, the design of the motor mount on the gearbox had to be trimmed back in a few places to make way for the motor wires but after quite a bit of fettling I did manage to shoehorn the motor into the car, then it was a case of routing the wires and as they were so short I could not put the ESC in the place it was supposed to go in a recess in the side of the chassis, instead I had to mount it on top of the battery strap in the centre of the car and thread the wires through the rear shock tower, it was a tight squeeze but I manage to get it to fit just about, now as I was fitting a Brushless system to this car that obviously means that I’ve made it a runner, and I have test driven it a couple of times but that was a couple of years ago now and I can’t recall what it drove like?
But it’s a good looking car with a slightly better upgraded chassis from the normal plastic RC buggies that Tamiya do, It’s no Dyna Storm or TRF 201 but I’m sure it’s a good car to drive it’s just I don’t really get the opportunities to get my cars out for a spin these days?
