Double-Whopper
Having way too much fun with my Wild Willy 2 I looked through Ebay for other Wheelie-Models, because I had two HPI VW-Bus bodies lying around and a plan what to do with them. So I came across this pair of Lunchies in very good shape. One had yellow oil-shocks and a sports tuned motor. The other one was box stock.
Both were equipped with the missing ball bearings, a standard-Servo and a speedo. A Tamiya TEU 104-BK in one and a LRP A.I. in the other one.
The tuning-version also was fitted with a GPM aluminium-steering set.
But the most striking feature should be the pair of vee-dubs. A beautiful body you don't see that often these days.
One was painted to represent the Porsche Renndienst transporter. Yes....back in the 60's even the Porsche racing teams were supported by transporters like this at tracksite. I had the idea to paint one of the bodies like that for a long time. I cut the letters and the VW-logo myself and am quite pleased with the result.
The other one has to be the classical camping bus. Doesn't this pair look great together? :-)
Both vee-dubs will run in the wheelie class of the VOREM2017 - the german vintage RC meeting.
(have a look at https://vorem2017.blogspot.de/ if you're interested)
I will report on the outcome of the duel between the two race-boxes if you like. ;-)
