JPS Brat

This is another Ebay find.

I decided I needed another Brat in my collection, after I had sold my last one some years back, but had always missed its good looks and great drivability.

It was kept as a shelfer and was painted box art. It need radio gear, and I also added a sport tuned motor. I also decided to change up the paint scheme a bit but wanted something other than box art. I had been looking at an old tamiya catalogue, and loved the looks of the JPS Lotus, so decided that was the paint scheme for this Brat.

I used Ford Panther Black, which is a pearlescent colour, put 3 coats on and 3 coats of clear to finish it. In the sun, the pearlescent effect is great. Then added some decals from MCI, the pin striping was the trickiest as the decals weren’t designed for this car.

Once I had finished the bodyshell, I added some bearings and also got the alloy wheels from rc- loverr. I really think the wheels set the whole car off, as I don’t think the original wheels suited the paint scheme. I do intend on changing the rear shocks, as the kit supplied ones are way to stiff for my liking.

I have yet to run this car, really want to run it on a beach, but I’m at least 75 miles from the nearest beach, so will have to wait until I have time off work and a dry day!
