I've heard arguments, that this in fact would be the most rare car of Tamiya:
May I ask for your opinion ?

1. The body form with the 'overhanging' front cannot be reproduced and Tamiya did not keep the 'molding forms' as their production process of this body produced a lot of unusable results
2. the construction is so complex, for example with the 'not-screwed' motor, that it is difficult to replace parts
3. the overall car is so fragile, that any runner is just more less unusable for collectors...
4. By the way: The body is not easy to finish - mine is far away from perfect - I hope I would do better today, but ok
once I did it the stickers were already quite old and for me it was not possible to attach them perfectly...

What do you think ?

I agree with these comments, but such an interesting and worthwhile car to restore. Here's mine.

I wish I took some 'before' pictures as it was a total wreck.

The 959 is a sort after car/kit but definitely not the rarest, far, far from it. Will we see it re issued, who knows but if they manufactured the body the first time round, they won't have problems doing it again.

I own a runner with all original parts and nothing is broken on mine. If you are going to drive it stick to an empty parking lot. If you break parts it is because you use too strong cleaning chemicals and the plastic gets weaken. Also if you do break any part you can get 3d printed stuff on shapeways. Also get a tbg body because it is stronger than the original one.
