My Masters Work
Hi Chaps
Firstly, must say a massive thank you to Scorcher Kid (Simon) for the tremendous work he has done in helping me to put together this car - cheers mate - I think its awesome. I had a couple of tough months with family bereavement, but this project and the numerous e-mails, text messages and phone calls from some truly amazing guys in our hobby kept me occupied so a big thank you to all.
I'm a bit of a Scorcher and alloy addict so this one also helped me ease the addiction - for a while anyhow.
I had a yellow and red Mk1 scorcher as a kid and wanted to put together another but, this time, something a bit special using parts from some past and present masters in the hobby.
The chassis is based on an Awesome Alloys Competition Special Chassis plate produced by the late master Rad - hope this car does it justice Rad. Skid plate is also one of Rad's so nice to couple them up and a dream come true for me to own them both.
Front suspension set and rear motor housing are Mk1 that I salvaged from the bay.
Front bumper and rear cage were made by J-man probably 7-8 years ago (welded aluminium and much sought after now). Many of you will remember Rad and J-man and the work they produced - if not then have a look at their showrooms.
The tyres were painted and mounted on alloys by SRB Bloke - another true talent and now I'm lucky to have him as a friend - thanks Stephen.
Knock off Wheel nuts are the work of Rogue Elements (Chris Cazan) - as too are the gear and motor covers that he recently made a limited run of- again Chris is a true master in the hobby so look out for his unique items if you're not familiar.
Engine is an alloy J-man one - think he had this mounted in one of his sand rovers historically so again a pretty rare piece and super detailed. It was made to fit inside one of his rear cages which it does to perfection.
Now then - the shell. This is an original shell that Scorcher Kid has painted and detailed- simply stunning, quality work with a superb finish inside and out. I am very lucky to own this. I used to like the Blue and White car that I have ( still do) but this yellow and red one really outshines it IMO. I have added some alloy mirrors that I picked up somewhere along the line (apparently made by Allan Miller SRB man).
Car has also got vintage RCH coilover brass dampers with chrome springs. Steering rods are also vintage RCH HD alloy with ball ends.
Also got some lovely bespoke plates made up for me with my TC name on them from a gent called Gavin who I think lives in Ireland.
Driver was painted by my super talented buddy Matt Chovan in the US- just brilliant.
Still needs a motor but looking for recommendations on something nice that will fit behind the cover and into a Mk1 housing that I think is tighter than the re-re
Anyway, hope you like and can appreciate the level of quality workmanship that has gone into the parts making up this car. I am just the caretaker but humbled to own it.

Re-Bugged
Well you don't get more V-Dub-Tamiya than this fine example. Getting the right tone of yellow can be tricky but this is spot on. Fantastic detail buddy.
Doc007
Thanks Re-Bugged. Scorcher Kid painted it - he tells me he sprays out of a Tamiya spraycan onto a test card then gets the paint made up in cellulose. He then sprays it through a mini jet spray gun. Finish and feel is superb. Glad you like fella
