Long-overdue for addition to my Tamiyaclub showroom, this truck came my way a long way back, all the way back in 2014, in fact. I left the company I'd been working for and was given $100 worth of vouchers for Tower Hobbies as a leaving present. For a long time I'd wanted a good, capable scale rig, and back then the SCX10 was about the only thing worth buying unless you had the serious wallet for an RC4WD Trail Finder.

Of course, the rig got purchased and then sat unbuilt for best part of a year. I finally put it together in October of 2014, with the intention of mounting an old Bruiser body on it. I soon discovered a wheelbase mismatch, and I couldn't be bothered to make new links (I'm very lazy), so I hacked together a cage back out of styrene. The rig got an outing at Radshape RC's indoor climbing mountain in November 2014, but I was never really happy with how the shell sat, so I threw a can of Tamiya gunmetal paint at the G6 body and loaded it up for some crawling action.

I've never been 100% happy with the Wrangler body - I'm not really Jeep man - but the G6 wheelbase is slightly unusual and, being too lazy to make new links and too cheap to buy stock ones, I've never got around to fitting anything else. I bought a Proline Cherokee body because the wheelbase was right and it was different, but that was literally just before Axial released the SCX10 II with their own Cherokee body. I then found that, while the Proline looks good and comes with window masks, it doesn't come with window trim decals, and I'm too mask it properly to paint the window trims in.

So the G6 body has stayed, and to be honest it's kind of grown on me. I've done enough events with it now that it feels like part of the furniture. Future plans are to get (or make) stickers for every major event I go to and keep the shell until it's covered. This plan started yesterday when I added the stickers I got at the RC4WD G6 Teatime With Aliens event that I went to in May of this year.

These are a collection of pics from the last few years.
