I've grown very fond of the older bigger scale cars such as the Kyosho supertens , HPI Super Nitros, and Tamiya TGXs. I purchased this Kyosho Superten Taisan in not so great shape. It looked like it had been painted with a giant paintbrush on the inside and had some kind of black paint on the outside. I decided to try an experiment.... I cleaned and roughed up the outside of the body and masked the windows. I then used Tamiya fine surface primer on the outside... I used 4 coats to get max coverage, then used 4 coats of TS white paint, followed by 3 coats of clear. I then sourced 24 hour of Daytona 911 decals in the appropriate scale from my friend at MCI Racing. I found the correct wheels but didn't like the white. 2 coats of primer, 2 coats aluminum silver for the lips, 2 coats gold for the centers, then 3 coats of clear and I think it turned out pretty good. I've got some sanding and painting to do on the spoiler yet, so that's next. Thoughts?

2 Completed.... Sort of! 2 1 A Tamiya TGX HPI Supernitro and Kyosho Superten With primer and after paint 1 1 How it looked with white wheels 2 How it looked when I picked it up

Very nice, always love the SuperTen Porsche GT2 . I missed out a perfect shelfqueen a year ago at very good price I regretted under bid it. I'm currently doing Tamiya GT2 body with the Kyosho STP lively What's next... besides the rear wing, maybe finishing up on details, side mirrors, exhaust tips, interior roll bar. Go through members show rooms of the re re GT2 Porsche a lot of nice ones there and some are done in amazing details. Can't wait to see complete the project!

Nice job,,, I have also had good success with restoring rare lexan bodies by painting them on the outside. I usually sand mine with 400 grit wet or dry sandpaper, then prime on the outside,, followed by sanding again with 600 grit wet or dry sandpaper before painting. If the surface is clean and prepped well the paint sicks just fine. Especially for light running or shelf duty.
