Did you ever seen a Hilux as it comes fresh from Shizouka?
This kit is in an Amazing Condition as i never have seen. All flat, bright, sharp Corners. The Kit was shrinkwrapped by me to keep my new Timecapsule fit for next 40 Decades.

They were not wrapped in japan. all tamiya packages from that time were open.

when exported some distributors would wrap them. possible problem is original packaging that was wrapped from back then turns a heavy yellow from age. the cellophane is also very brittle.

now that cellophane is very clear, looks newer then it should be. could be nothing, could be something, you wouldn't know unless you opened the package to confirm the contents are not a bunch of bricks glued in the box. i personally do not buy NIB plastic wrapped unless i'm sure the outside really is original, this is hard unless i have a history of the box. (this would be really old decals on top of the aged plastic and from trusted sellers.

it is VERY easy to fake wrap a box with heat shrink plastic. I myself have access to one of these plastic wrap machines with heated oven for shrinking. so take it as a just a warning from a fellow collector of 30 years that has gotten burned a few times.

Thanks Guys. But Kasparov, It was sealed by me. As described in Treasds before i bought the Film from Tamiya Europe (Heinz Behringer) i seal all my MINT Kits to keep them MINT as a Timecapsule.

Ah ok, still great condition. So when did the kits get sealed? When they hit the US or in US factories? MRC?

MRC/tamiya would wrap them usually. MRC/tamiya would also attach decals with special offers to the box or plastic wrap. occasionally they would also Add a part to a kit. For the us market sometimes they would replace the stock 540 motor with a tamiya hopup motor and sometimes a MSC when not included in the original kit then they would put a decal on plastic wrap on the box making it a special edition with motor indication and a 3 step speed controller included. there was no us factory. MRC/tamiya was the american distributor for the product. they were located in Edision,NJ in the mid 1990s MRC and tamiya split. MRC stayed in NJ while Tamiya USA was born and relocated to California tamiya usa was tied to tamiya japan. so there wasn't any special re-wrapped additions, TamiyaUSA would inspect the japan shipments and wrap them for the USA market for distribution they would have scratch and dent specials are bust them for parts distribution.
