It's funny, I was never really a fan of the Hornet (or the Grasshopper) but these 'comical' versions are too cute to resist!
So here's my Comical Hornet. Yes, it's box-art which is kinda boring but I think these need to be box art so it's clear what it's supposed to be, if you know what I mean.
It's all pretty standard, the only hop-ups are bearings, steel pinion, alloy servo mount, alloy rear chassis brace/shock tower and modified wheelie bar.
I cut the body out so the front is a little deeper, only about 10mm but I think it helps. The car came with the new Tamiya 'multi-purpose driver' - must admit I'm not a fan! So good old Wild Willy was shoe-horned in instead, with a basic interior to make him more comfortable.
Like the Comical Grasshopper, the Hornet comes with LED holders (though again, the LEDs aren't supplied) so lights are fitted front and rear. There's not a lot of room under that little shell but it all just about fits!
I'm enjoying these Comical Series cars so far. Apparently they're a big hit in Japan so it seems very likely that there will be more to come. Can't wait to see what comes next!
Anyway, hope you like this one.
