Bit more progress over the weekend, although I took fewer photos than I remember. I trimmed the 4-links for better articulation, clear driveshaft angle and shorter wheelbase, and made a radio tray out of, well, a Maverick radio tray, but fitted upside down for better body clearance. The battery will have to be inside the body somewhere.
I got up early this morning to get a bit more done before work, chores and Being Daddy got in the way, and finished mounting the body. I used some CC01 body posts mounted horizontally on the same screws that mount the upper links, which I hope will be OK - there's a risk that roll-overs will stress the screws and loosen the links. We'll see. An alternative is to replace the screws with 3mm allthread, which would add a little more rigidity to the chassis too.
Anyway, not a huge amount worth talking about so here's some pics of it sitting on my 1:10 scale mountain:

Now I know where Tamiya got the idea for the new Monster Beetle Black edition.
