I've had a break from the hobby for the last 5 years (real life gets in the way!) but when I saw the new 2cv release I just had to have the bodyset. Can't quite afford the full kit at the minute, but a quick and dirty eBay purchase of a broken m03 chassis, some chassis spacers and a bodyset later and I have something close enough to get me going.

I grew up with 2cvs, having had 3 in the family. I've always wanted a 50s or 60s one as a classic, but due to the prices going through the roof, a model is the closest I'll get! I started building this before the rally version came out, I've always loved the look of the more subtle raid 2cvs, so I've made an attempt at turning the 70s Charleston body into a more 60s feel.

Still a way to go for this project, its using the ABC stealth mounts, but they are a pain to mount on this body. The body has been sprayed with matt clear and weathered too. Extra stickers were made using Adobe Illustrator and some old Letraset I had lying around. I'm not happy with the wheel and tyre combo, currently using Grasshopper/Hornet smoothies, but would love something narrower. The wheels are Beetle wheels, stripped of their chrome and painted Halfords Dove Grey. Would love to work on a 3 bolt wheel that coves the centre Tamiya wheelnut - I feel the wheels are very much part of the 2cv's character.

Hope to get some running shots soon!

Fantastic - far more realistic looking than the Box-art!

for info. you can pinch those Smoothee tyres on the Beetle rims by cutting the rear rim lip off the inside the each wheel, so the tyres now sit against the original inner bead as the outer bead - making them more narrow and slightly taller too (I did this with the same wheel/tyre combo on TaMater in my showroom/build-thread).

100% better than the box and the tires are a great idea to give it more realism, congratulations for the work !

Great job. The wide wheels/tires on the original one are a real trade off.
