Lancia S4 project (AFTER)
My favourite B car has always been the S4 as it's an animal, yes all the GrB cars were powerful but the S4 was made purely for performance and nothing else. On closer inspection it's almost Frankenstein's monster; a thin gauge metal frame work with an engine bolted to it and a large turbo and supercharger strapped to that. As another example the rear bumper used to collect debris quite badly adding tens of pounds of weight to the rear so the Lancia team just removed it and carried on as normal even though it made the car look slightly odd. There are many other factors involved with this car too, like Lancia not really having a budget like its competitors, therefor making it the underdog. There just wasn't anything that was not exciting and interesting about this car and its team; apart from when Henri Toivonen and Sergio Cresto lost their lives near the end of the 1986 season.
Bought a Rally Legends shell second hand for cheap which was already cut and painted but it just lacked lots of details; looked more like a jelly mould and plasticy. So got to work on fitting body to chassis to get it to sit right. Once that was done it was time to detail the body with mirror supports, making from scratch the spotlight cowlings and modifying spotlights and lenses to fit. Did lots of panel lines and a bonnet air intake. Got to work then on the rear exhaust system which is near exact scale to the real thing; hence why the outlet on the left hand side is smaller than the right. Fitted some vintage chrome staggered rims and tires and when I discovered you could interchange the centre fascia I searched out these which are closest I could find to Lancia wheels. I've glued some tiny brass nuts to the wheels and fitted light gold nuts to the axles plus custom decals to both wheels and tires. Mudflaps and lots of custom decals added too (check out the tiny ones on the spots) plus roof air intakes along with windscreen wipers and an aerial. Last but not least fitted and wired up custom LEDs.
As soon as Id finished this it was straight on to my next project; a Group 4 Walter Rohrl tribute Fiat 131 . ¦

Show-stopper! You really enhanced the original Rally Legends offering, and did a great car proud with this fine work

@Grastens Thank you
Impressive! As much as I have wanted a Delta S4, I haven't bought the Rally Legends body because it looked so poor, but you have proven that it's indeed possible to make it look extremely good!

An absolute stunner, even the stance is great! Tyre profile is really low though.
I would have gone with a Toivonen livery

Excellent work!
This is also my favorite car from the Gr. B area, every time I hear that supercharger whining immidiately I get goosebumps!
You could also do a black and gold Esso livery which would also look killer, especially when both stand side by side.

Fantastic build! I used to own a Lancia Delta Integrale EVO 2 Giallo Ginestra. So I'm quiet fond of these cars. Love the wheels to!

Well done, this looks fantastic! A+++

That is beautifully done! Tamiya ought to release this shell themselves, and use your detailing as inspiration!

This is out of control. I can't believe the devel of detail in this car, but most of all the stance is spot on! You have incredible skills, thanks for putting them to use on a Lancia shell and for sharing the result. Literally AWE inspiring
