It took me several years to assemble all the components since I got my Clod Buster in a trade with a fellow TCer. I started out with the bowtie grill and Chevrolet tailgate, found and sold a couple sets of original decals but kept a couple partial sets that constituted the complete set (except for the license plate). Managed to find a new unpainted shell and finally all the chrome + lights bits.

The tailgate had originally been painted blue so I temporarily glued the plastics of the body together and gave it a couple coats of primer to try to get it all as close to the same shade as possible. Then a couple coats of Italian Red - more than one but didn't go too crazy since I'm not the best painter and each coat adds another layer of dust grains or other issues. It came out really well in my mind, despite not being absolutely perfect.

The only thing I did since taking these pics is cut just the license plate decal out of an MCI decal sheet I was considering using on a runner and apply it to this body. So technically that makes it 99.999% vintage original, but as soon as I locate a genuine license plate decal without needing to cut up a whole set I'll peel it off and replace it with the correct one.

6 10 Grill had a few nicks that I painted with chrome 9 6 Alas, no original license plate decal 7 11 I'm still debating whether to run this 7 The chassis is all vintage except for the motors 9 I fitted a modern servo and motors for running 6 Currently no MSC or ESC installed, need to decide 10 Taking its rightful place atop one of my shelves

Fantastic result Beef, I’ve got a Chev grill and tailgate that have both been painted previously. I’m thinking of using them on the Black Clodbuster that I’ve pre ordered. Might consider some MCI decals for it to, depends on what Tamiya come up with for it

I love it. You did a great job with this one. And oh, the Clod must be one of Tamiya's most fantastic RC vehicles ever made!
Looooooove it!

Great work!! There appears to be a ton of spares available on Ebay so I think you should definitely run it.
