This 1981 vintage car belonged to my younger brother, who then gave it to a mate of mine, sometime around 1988. It's been in his garage for about 31 years. Actually several garages as he's moved around a bit. He gave it back to me, and I have decided to restore it to running condition.
Taking the advice of several TCers I'm going to leave the body with it's genuine 37-year-old patina. The chassis will be cleaned up a bit (and dead crawlies removed) so that I can run it reasonably well. The first step will be a careful strip down and clean.

22 37 years of dust and dead crawlies 2 Tea, shortbread and a filthy car 3 Severely injured driver. What was he eating? 2 What's inside? More dirt and dead bugs. 4 Bonus find! The missing arm! And lots of blood! 1 Open gearbox = gearbox full of grit 2 Slightly tarnished stock 540 4 Servo! With ICs! WOW! It grinds when it moves. 3 Front tyres - shot. Rear tyres - bald but still useable! Rear 'suspension' and more grime 2 Hornet SC resistors. And more grime. 2 Front right suspension stay - broken. 2 Front left suspension stay - broken. 2 BONUS FIND! The original speed control! 4 Found in my 'useful box' - it looks new! (ish) 1 BONUS FIND! A high power BLACK motor! 1 Very early ESC. I think I used this in a plane. 5 Plastic bearings - MIND THE GAP.
