a real grower
I'm ashamed to say, I bought this with the plan of harvesting its parts to use on my Jamie Booth replica Astute...
Thankfully, I managed to find all the parts I needed for that NOS, so this effectively became surplus to requirements. So my plan was just to restore it and sell it.
Of course, Tamiya cast it's magic spell on me, and once it was done I just couldn't let it go (although I did try) so it's now safely tucked up next to its big brothers, the Astute and Avante.
The resto was very straightforward, tidy up, smooth out the bottom of the chassis tub, fix the rear gearbox mount, new wheels and tyres and TBG body with MCI decals.
I looked around for new shocks but couldn't find any, and to be honest, I wasn't sad as they're rubbish! So with the re-re Super Astute plentiful I got a set of shocks for that, which not only look great on it, but actually work pretty well too. I also fitted the SA metal motor plate. The only other NOS parts were the front and rear bumpers.
It's such a lovely looking thing, isn't it!
update for July 2020:
it's now been completely stripped apart again and completely overhauled with brand new, original stock:
Chassis, A Parts, B Parts, C Parts, D Parts, E Parts, Super Astute shocks, wheels, tyres, vintage original new screws, nuts, etc, Astute motor plate, servo cover, bearings, ball adjusters TBG body and MCI stickers.
I also got a set of the original blue po-go stick shocks, but I just can't fit them. :)

Re-Bugged
Very nice job on giving a great Buggy a new lease of life. So much better seeing it how it’s meant to be rather than becoming a sacrificial lamb
