Hi folks l hope everyone is safe and surviving ok? These are crazy terrible times and we will all have to be strong! My wife and l have been isolated and l have been laid off work temporarily well hopefully only temporarily!! So we are in isolation for the time being so to have a little rc project to take my mind off stuff thats going on is very helpful! I bought this before l got laid off and it was only cheap anyway and had most of the parts to fix it up in my parts bin already! This Hornet looks a mess but its actually in great shape!(but when stripping it l later found a big crack in the gearbox)The chassis is not cracked where the gearbox joins on like can be with old Hornets, the front of the chassis is good and the wheels and tyres are good! The body is in fairly decent shape too regards splits and cracks! This Hornet is going to be a runner obviously so not to worried how it looks but will tidy it up a bit but nothing too much! I am looking forward to driving this it has have been long time since l have driven a Hornet in anger!!
Keep safe guys and big shout out to all the guys still out there working on the front line helping others! all the best cheers James.

That's a lovely project. It's a great hobby, I started on a few projects myself. If you're on Twitter have a look at Jonny Smith @Carpervert as he's a bloke from the telly who's teamed up with Tamiya for RC content. Enjoy

I love it...great project! I did the same 5-6 years ago to an original Hornet runner I modeled after my original that I had BITD by replacing a few broken plastic parts and adding period-correct Tamiya MSC and Hitec radio that I had since the 80's. It's a lot of fun to run and very nostalgic.

Yeah JerseyRC the good old Hornet sure does make an enjoyable project and an easy one too!! plus bucket loads of fun to drive with a twist of nostalgia value! I will only be using this one as a runner though just a light tidy up with modern electrics, but a full restoration like you did is cool and fun to do but not for this old Hornet! Thanks for the comments guys cheers Mad-Bee.
