Ive not posted on here for a while, but given recent events I thought id resurrect my account and finish some projects off. This started out as a genuine 80s racer Frog. The chassis was brand new but had been drilled and had various mods done to it. I bought it off ebay years ago and I rebuilt and sold the Frog on.But i was left with a brand new original ORV chassis that had been drilled so thought -- em - what can I do with that?
I remembered back in the day we all used to drill chassis and make a light weight racer - I did it with my RC10!! So what if I could make a brat super lightweight but using a little modern technology. So this is 100% vintage brat parts but with a modern 380 and tamtech gear speed controller, smaller light Futaba servo and same with the receiver. Modern lexen shell painted in Tamiya copper backed with gold. And thats it - I compared the weight with an original I have and I shaved 400 grams off the weight. Ive not run it yet but will do. I dropped the rear suspension (to reduce friction from the dog bones, a trick from the 80's when I raced my Frog) grasshopper springs and cut springs in the front for a an all round lower lock.. Hope you like and comments always welcome..
