The Old meets the fairly New
My Twin Detonator was one of the first kits I bought with a polycarbonate body. I wasn't too impressed with my ability to paint it so I opted to do something different in that department. I've been into r/c's since the early 80's. Back when the likes of Radio Shack and Nikko was selling some pretty cool r/c's for the times. I had an old Radio Shack 'Enforcer 4WD R/C truck' that was no longer functional but, the body was in one piece. Introducing this story of Old meets fairly New. I believe the body is a rough 80's version of a Toyota Pickup. I added some decals and other accessory parts to come up with this creation. The body was low and wide so I decided to use axial crawler type wheels and tires as not to make it look too bottom heavy. I fit all of my models with sealed bearings and this one with coil over aluminum oil damper shocks. The Twin Detonator with it's WR-01 chassis was released around December 3rd, 2003 based on the same platform as the old 'Wild Digger' from 1999. It's a rugged and fast setup with the twin Reedy Radon brushed motors. It is one of my favorite projects.
