Just right after finishing my Avante 2001 I had to finish the next project. It ´s a gift to a good friend who hosted my real beetle this year and helped me very much in getting my overhauled engine to work. He has also an old beetle and is a big fan of the story of the D leteren VW beetle, which were produced in Belgium with OKRASA kits to get the horsepower up to 50PS at that time. Only a few were produced, till VW boss Heinrich Nordhoff forbid the production. Very rare these days €¦ So I tried to get this as low budget project. Another racing friend offered me his M06 pro Chassis, because he moved on to the M08. Perfect base, some Hopups already included, like Yeah Racing oil diff and Aluminum Motor mount. Wheels and tires are slightly used ones from my own beetle, body is new. He likes the green one, so I found Tamiya cobaltgreen to be closest to VW 'Javagreen' in darker conditions. The Mach 1 logo I sketched up quickly in Powerpoint, added some license plates from his hometown and added some other stickers for printing on outdoor adress sticker sheets, that are waterproof. Lights are painted translucent with my airbrush, and on the front indicators I tested a chrome lexan color for the first time (Alclad). It came out nice, and is much easier than applying the Tamiya stickers for the indicators. Electronics are used from eBay local advertisings. Can ´t wait to see his face, when it will be finally gifted to him...

This looks lovely buddy . Really like the colour, never really paid much attention to this chassis before, but with the work you have done to this, and that excellent body, think I might have to get me one of these. Great work. Cheers Paul

Thank you so much Paul, it´s a great chassis, and the Tamiya beetle body is still one of their best M-Chassis bodies in my eyes. And there are not so many M-Chassis entries these days, so I felt the need to get this model to TC. Will be hard for me to let it go.
