No Longer Chrome.

While bored in lockdown, I decided that my son's chrome edition Pumpkin was looking neglected and needed a little spruce up. He was given the pumpkin for a birthday present a few years ago but had been left on the shelf gathering dust. The body had collected a few scrapes in the usual places, the roll bar lamps had gone droopy but otherwise it just needed a good clean. I stripped the chassis and added the AMPRO engineering rear suspension brace, and Schumacher tyre foams to beef up the handling a little. I've never been a big fan of the chrome, and think the dark colours show off the shape and decals better, so the body was sanded back and areas I wanted to remain chrome (window frame, bed sides and wheel arches) marked before priming and painting with Tamiya TS64 Dark Mica Blue and finished in Pearl clear. The photographs don't do the paint finish justice as its much sparklier in the flesh. Finally I added a cheap LED light kit and side exhausts from a Lunchbox to finish the look.

Nice work! I agree, I was never a fan of any chrome body and the blue looks much better. It really pops with the decals now.
