Hi guys
Basic model but l really like this Candy green version plus its a Legendary Hopper!
I did not over do the decals l thought the shell is too nice to cover up too much and no painting apart from the driver! My eyes just don't have what it takes these days! Iol getting old!
All stock apart from bearings just as tamiya intended!
Hope you like it and really the photos dont do the candy green justice! All the best cheers James.
Doing a taffer! Update....27/11/20
I added a Torque tuned motor and ordered some green wheels nuts. Should finish it off nicely! Lovely looking buggy one of my favourites now!

Nice one! agree with the decals - sometimes less is more. I rarely use all the decals on my models in general.

Well well well long time since I have been on this site and nice to see some of the familiar names still here, and james hope you well my friend.... good looking grasshopper you got there and did have an eye on one myself a while back. My buggy collecting stopped a while back but I still have most of my collection, will have a few to get rid of soon as planning a trip to Australia (covid permitting) so need the money. Anyway hope everyone well and will be back on from now on to keep an eye on whats happening. All the best hot rod ????

Sorry to hear about the job mate and glad you have found new employment, not easy for anyone at the moment pal where ever any of us are home and over the world. Yes still tinkering with tamiya and have for the time being concentrated on getting period radio for my cars, age related acoms specifically. Got a small collection of complete boxed radio and unboxed for the cars. Nothing new car wise for a good few years since the fighting buggy, selling some of my project cars soon (only duplicates) to hopefully fund my trip. Ps finally married the good lady last Friday so have an official mrs hot rod now lol. Speak soon buddy ??

Very nice James. I have a NIB purchased from taffer some time ago. To build or not to build?....lol I made my own Candy Green version from a standard NIB just in case I couldn't source a proper NIB.....but in the end I did.......lol

Congrats Justin well done mate about time lol.
Brilliant news.
@ Simon yeah you did a nice job on that hopper mate! How does your painted version compare to the tamiya pre done shell? Because in the flesh to speak' the candy green is lush! and was thinking does the paint come out as good?

I would say the official Candy Green body is better than my painted Candy Green body as Tamiya does them so well. But it is a close second.....lol. The colour is a perfect match, the challenge is in trying to achieve the finish that the special limited edition body has.

MAD-BEE

11-Oct-2020

Yeah the finish is very nice on the candy green hopper!
I can see why it would be difficult to get that finish!
I was thinking of using the candy green spray paint some day on a project and thought you would be the guy to ask! Thanks mate.

Definitely a smart choice NOT to sell it to fund another project. I've done that a few times and regretted it almost every time so I don't do that anymore!

Great work on a great buggy! Diggin the green version myself and seeing yours finished so well makes me want one! I don’t have any hoppers in my collection at the moment but have been thinking recently I need to fix that some time, but not now cos I’m skint lol. Was thinking I’d get the original ‘white’ version and a ‘green’ version when funds allow - one for me and one for the Mrs to hit the beach with - bet they are just perfect for that! Before then, better work what I’ve already got lol otherwise might not get the Mrs to sign off ??

Thanks mate yeah the Candy Hopper is a very nice bit of kit and looks a lot better in person too! tamiya has done a nice job on the shell for sure!
and everyone's collection must have the Grasshopper in it!
I have become a bit obsessed with all the hoppers again recently such simple but classic buggies! I would love to get the black version too but like you funds are tight right now so will have to wait! DOH!!!
