About 8 months ago I was in the mood for having a crack at doing a nice Sand Scorcher body shell.
The SS body was getting thin on the ground but found one at RCJaz. They weren't able to ship at the time but were willing to hold it for me until they could. It was about 2 to 3 months I think before it arrived at my doorstep, which gave me plenty of time to decide what I was going to do with it.
The iconic '506' was a must and I also wanted to do something along the lines of the original Box Art but race it up a bit while keeping of the era.
After many hours of masking and laying on the different stages of Dupli Colour Automotive paint, and some finishing touches with a Molotow Chrome Pen I picked up 2 years ago with this in mind, this is what I came up with.....
P.S, Big thanks to TC Member yogi-bear for the Number plate stickers so I could put my name on it :)

That’s one gorgeous paintjob, the wheels and front bumper complement it perfectly. Well done!

That’s one serious sweet looking Sand Scorcher you got there. Awesome job you did.

A brilliant twist on a traditional scheme, a more minimalist look with just a few stickers really works well. Very 2020

That colorchoice is just perfect for the SS. Vintage theme with modern colors. Love it!

Thanks all for the kind words very much appreciated. I was after at least one flash Harry Scorcher in the collection.
Borrowing my daughters nice camera for the pic’s is definitely an improvement over just using a phone to get maximum show off effect MAD-BEE

This has a certain 70's look to it but without looking dated at all! Fantastic!
Stompin Around
That’s a stunner - a credit to your patience and skill! Very original and inspiring - well done and thanks for sharing!

Iconic is the word that comes to mind here. Some TC members create painstakingly accurate replicas of box art. Others add a bit of flair to their models and show some creativity. You sir, have transcended that to another level. This is one of those models that people will refer back to years and years from now when referencing the 'best-of'.. Congrats!

Stunning, it almost puts box-art to shame! It's a great design, perfectly executed and it suits the car so well.
I guess I'm not the only one wishing I had your skills!

Thanks Ferruz, I couldn’t have hoped for any better with this one. Only trouble is I’m not sure how I can top it
Absolutely Outstanding.

Thank you kindly.

Looks amazing, what was the chrome paint you used on the wheels
Re-Bugged
Thanks sandgropper, the wheels are aluminium wheel covers that are a direct replacement for the outside plastic original kit ones from Pargustore (seller id :- pmg82
on eBay. I just painted the yellow edge with Humbrol enamel.
Search SRB Aluminium Wheel covers on eBay and they should come up. I think RC Channel also do something similar.

Flawless, you have a great eye for paint design!

Just seen this mate after you kindly left a comment on my Comp entry (thank you). This is a stunning paint scheme - you have done a marvelous job on it. So, so much more interesting than standard box art but you have stayed ery close to theme whilst really stepping it up more than one notch. Lo e it and straight into my Favourite. Take care fella

Thanks very much Doc007, glad you like it. I drafted up a fair few designs over several months before settling on this one. Tamiya did a great job of the original, but as like most of us I just wanted to put my own stamp on it.
