KYOSHO USA-1 MONSTER TRUCK
This is my 1/10th scale 1992 Kyosho USA-1 4WD/4WS electric Monster Truck that I purchased from Ebay in March 2019 for $250.00 USD. It's a faithful replica of the 1:1 1988 Chevy Silverado owned/operated by Everett Jasmer back in the 80's and 90's but he still runs it today. I originally had one of these that I purchased NIB back in the 90's but sold it in 2007 (see my showroom for that one) after being frustrated with the horrible stock steering mechanism and replaced it with a much more realistic and capable TXT-1. This one represents the best parts from two USA-1's that I purchased around the same time. It arrived box-stock in very good condition with the stock Mega 360 motors, original Kyosho rotary MSC, a Hobbico high-torque steering servo and a box-art body in very good shape. Therefore, all I had to do was swap in a cleaner, unmolested chassis along with the front plastic grill and bumper from the other body, add one clear plastic motor guard and new repro 'KC', 'True Value' and 'Kyosho' decals to complete the box-art look. I also purchased a ton of spare plastic parts to have on hand if necessary. It still needs the rearview mirrors and motor decals which I am currently in search of. I originally went with this Truck over a Clod BITD because RCCA did a shoot-out between the two and determined that the USA-1 was slightly faster and more agile than the Clod Buster. The USA-1 also came stock with 4WS which the Clod did not (it was 4WS-capable but you had to purchase the necessary steering parts separately). I wanted a completely box-stock/box-art truck just as it came in the 90's so I added a period-correct Kyosho Pulsar pistol grip radio, standard servos and receiver that I purchased for $55.00 USD. When I had my first one 25 years ago, the steering was horrible which was the primary reason I sold it since I was too naive to know how to fix the problem. Fast forward 25+ years and the stock steering in this one is completely NON-EXISTENT so the truck does not turn - AT ALL! lol Predictably, the stock Pulsar servo is too weak and the plastic steering racks are too soft/flexible so there is a ton of slop but I knew that would be the case going into the restoration. This truck will primarily be a shelf-queen so it will remain like that for now but if I decide to run it more frequently I am going to install the Hobbico high-torque servo and fill the slots in both steering racks with epoxy to add some much-needed rigidity which should improve the steering substantially. Thanks for looking and hope you enjoy.
9 I'm thrilled with the result! 15 8 Rims/tires are in great shape. 10 8 6 Body lines completed by previous owner. 7 4 4 4WD/4WS. 4 14 3 4 Original stock set-up. 7 4 7 Period-correct Pulsar pistol grip radio. 8 Reproduction decal sheet from MCI. 8 Vintage goodness. 10 Owner/creator Everett Jasmer with the 1:1.If you liked those pictures, you should see these...

Love it. The Kyosho USA-1 was my first RC kit Monster Truck. I have one again, but it's been painted black.
