At least the recent snow made a decent backdrop for a photo-shoot!

First of all, I must say a big 'thank you' to fellow TC member Simensays. Without his help and support, this project wouldn't have happened. Thank you so much, and I'm sorry it's taken so long to get it finished!

I've built/painted a few 'Winter Willys' for other people so of course I wanted one for myself too. This has been a long term project, sort of moving along slowly in the background rather than a 'must build it now' job. But that's given me lots of time to play around with a few modifications...

The most obvious is that awesome Simensays hardtop. It's 3D printed and really nice quality. The main top is really solid, the side and rear panels are feel strong without being too chunky, and the detailing is very nice on every piece. Can you tell I'm pleased with it? :-)
The hard top makes it a special, unique model. But maybe not special and unique enough! So it got a navigator (modified Wild Willy figure with a scratch-built seat), home-made tools, home-made fuel can back, metal winch hook, Yeah Racing alloy front bumper and shock towers, white CVA shocks, alloy wheelie bar, front spotlights, StreetJam grille, snowboards and rack from a Tundra kit, luggage rails from a big-rig kit, scale bungees, backpack & bedrolls, SRB antenna with home-made mount - I think that's everything!

And of course, the tracks. Probably a bit silly, but why not? The tracks and front skids were bought separately on ebay. Both were a sort of bronze colour so they were taken apart and repainted.

Willy's so pleased he even decided to hire a specialist mechanic to look after it! :-)

Hope you like it too,
Cheers,
Rob

That is very cool, hints of winter storm trooper somehow. Willy must be so pleased with his new snow toy. Will he get his version of the new TT-02FT?

Another cracker Rob! I think you would love to live in Willy's world sometimes lol.
Love your painting skills once again and design of this very imaginative!
Does this run, how does it go? I would imagine on smooth compressed snow/ice it would be good to go? Anyway love it all the same! you are on a roll mate another model that would sell just like tamiya designed and released it!

Thanks for all the nice comments guys
Steffen, you mentioned the TT-02FT. I'm not sure about the kit but I'm definitely interested in the track units. When the spares are available (and if they're not too expensive!) I might replace the tracks on this with Tamiya units, just to make it more of a Tamiya model if that makes sense.
James, thanks mate. It's only had a 2-minute test run, so just first impressions. The front skids seem to dig in a bit when turning on soft snow but to be expected I guess. The track manufacturers recommend using a low speed/crawler motor so it's quite different to a 'normal' WW2. Fun though!

Rob, I think it would be a great excuse to upgrade Willy to a GF-01 if you could get the track units from the TT-02FT as separate spare parts
