XR311 2 (WIP)
So I've sorted the chassis which was really hard work, thin line between taking apart and breaking apart. Anyway its rebuilt with modern electrics. Driver painted and now just chilling with a smoke. Interior painted and re-glued. Body re-glued and whatever paint had splashed on the body, possibly emulsion is now removed and body touched up and painted. Now for body details...

@Ferruz Its a XR311, but hey thanks for your compliments.

Great work! That chassis looks brand new. Nice paintjob on the driver.

@Tamiyastef Chassis was very dirty, but a good clean turned it around. I'm quite happy with the driver but I should have painted the edge of the helmet black, it would be too difficult to paint that bit now he's glued in. Thanks Tamiyastef
KEV THE REV
Love this James . Nice work . I might get myself a runner one day - re-re though . My Cheetah is still on bricks

Looking good there J. love the figure. Reminds me of Brad Pitt in his Sherman Tank movie.

I would love to build an original XR311 or Cheetah from scratch they are such beautiful models! Can you imagine building one as your first RC kit back in the day! Probably a few on here who did do just that! Very nice mate looking great so far!

@JYCM3 Thanks buddy, good film by the way.

@MAD-BEE They are lovely things, I now have 2 Cheetahs and 2 XR311s so that should tell you how much I like them. I wouldnt recommend stripping an original one down, especially the chassis and gear box. This was a nightmare, all seized up and then there was loads of silly little issues when rebuilding it due to the ball-races being a tiny part of a millimeter wider than the recess. Should have been a few hours for a full strip and rebuild but it was more like 2 whole days. Thing is you cant force things as it'll just break so everything has to be done carefully bit by bit. The hardest bit was getting the main gear box apart, the brass bushings were well stuck and your trying to get them out whilst the main centre drive is jammed in there too.
