This project has been knocking around my head for some time; I wanted to create a rag-tag beat up looking vehicle that looks like its used to surviving in an apocalyptic world. The idea came from the fact that I had so many scrap RC parts of all types knocking about along with a box of house-hold items that I use to make parts from scratch. 80s movies also had their influence, films we do not even need to name. Then what prompted me to actually start and get into it was that 2020 happened... or so it didn't as the case be.

I collated loads of parts first; sifting through containers piling up bits I wanted to use or had ideas for and at the same time trying to make a decision on what chassis and what body to use. After settling on a TL01 chassis because I had one near complete I decided to choose a body out of the box of scrap polycarbonate bodies I had. It turned out to be quite easy as i went for the bodyshell that was already painted black. I'll let you guess what body it is...

So on with the build it was, chassis first, modified suspension and added Tamiya black CVAs. TBL02 ESC with a Sport Tuned motor, standard servo and 2.4 receiver. Body fit time it was, got that to sit where I wanted it and then pondered wheels and tires... eventually I had to cut out the wheel arches bigger as I went for larger tires. I'll let you guess the wheels...

Then work on the body began and this turned out to take forever because as I executed one idea another one would pop into my head and Id write it down so as not to forget. It really did become a labour of love, the ideas just kept coming. Now it would be a tall order to elaborate every next detail so I've just listed it generally. The last pic shows the list of some of the ideas I scrawled for the project.

Scratch built and fitted cockpit, sourced over-sized tires, scale tools, spot-lights, scratch built front and rear led housings and lenses, created custom led looms and various type leds (dull headlights with bright spots), adjustable wing spot-lights, roof-rack, spare wheel set for rear, created scaffolding to hold rear wheel set, jerry cans, scratch built snorkel, 4 scratch built aerials, tarpooling, netting, scratch built mud-flaps, scratch built quad exhaust, scratch built side window guard panels and mesh, scratch built window screen mesh and frame work, modified and fitted front and rear bumpers, side step plates, customise wheels, scratch built skid plates, added a few panel repairs to the body, fit 2 sets of wing mirrors, rope, panel up bonnet air vents, scratch built water tank, fog lights on front bumper, fitted trim on wheel arches, cut out and meshed front grill, meshed all lights, scratch built 2 utility boxes, chains and tow hook, winch, scratch built headlight hoods, custom fitted 4 side orange leds, barb-wire roll, cable reel, spare shock, 2 rear corner bumpers, various chains and finally I weathered everything which helped pull it all together.

Thank you if you read this far, I will do another post showing the lights working soon, any comments and questions welcome, I generally always reply. Cheers
