Twin Detonator Thrasher project (AFTER)
My Twin Detonator thrasher ready for action!!!
Firstly I stripped the chassis and left that in a box. Removed decals from the body and then polished it up the best I could. It was originally grey so stripped it, masked and repainted it black. As I masked the windows out it had to have a driver so painted one up and made a bracket to fasten him in. Cut out the grill and velcrod a radiator in. Removed the spotlights and added a working spot-bar to the front of the cab. Patched up the split above the left rear wheel arch so it should last more than 5 minutes. Netted side windows. Put a few chrome body parts on, exhausts and mirrors and then added custom decals.
Now back to the chassis; Cleaned, greased and new rubber sealed bearings through-out along with the following; Tamiya black CVA oil shocks, Hobbywing 880 ESC, Alturn 580 hi-torque servo with a 3racing hi-torque servo saver, 2 x Core RC 15t motors, Absima 2.4 Rx and upgraded the pinions to 2 x 21t steel ones. Added axle extenders so I could fit these oversized wheels and tires which are about 50% bigger than the standard Tamiya ones, I have no idea what brand they are.
Thats about it really, a quick flip with no getting hung up on details as this from the start was for running... or thrashing as i like to call it. Cheers all...

Maybe a little body scraping on full lock, my TD does that in stock form! Love these dual motor monsters

@J@mes I dont mind a bit of body scraping, if its too bad though i'll put the original wheels back on.

This looks great, good work! I love those wheels and tires. I have a Twin Detonator body in the process of 'depainting' to put on my sons' stampede ones it is painted again. I hope it turns out as goodlooking as yours.
