I remember being very excited when I brought this kit home from the hobby shop around 1987-88. This was one of the first Formula One style bodies on an off-road RC car I had seen. The actual on-road RC Formula One kits I knew about looked way too delicate for my skills and interests.
The Formula One inspired design in an off-road car grabbed my imagination. I had little idea at the time of the Tamiya's F-1 history. The new tub chassis was interesting to me too.
As you can see from the photos the kit never got used. The only problem with it was I loved driving my Fox around at the time, which meant I didn't get around to sharing the radio gear with the Striker.
Since I have an original additional decal set I'm wondering... if I sell this is it better to list it as is for the new buyer to have the fun of reconditioning the body, or should I do this before listing it? The body was never painted except for the driver and intake vents. The original box is in reasonably good condition.

This is one car I really disliked BITD. Now, older and wiser (mainly older) I can see the beauty of this design. I would be very hesitant to sell this if I had it from new in my possession.

I had the same feeling about a few models! Especially the 'newer' ones that kept rolling out after I had been in the hobby a few years. Now I love them all like a big family tree
I'm hesitant, yes!, but also pondering the future. I guess I'm thinking out loud, should I finally get around to giving it the box art body I wanted this kit to have, or do I leave it as an example of my 1980's handy work? I'll probably leave it as is for a while longer and when the time and weather allow then do the body properly.

Another open seat car on the TC! I am extremely disappointed to not have one of these by now! Hated the damn striker for years but wow l love its unique but odd if you like looks now!
I can't see this getting rere or maybe l am wrong?? But these will become little gold mines l bet!

One thing I should point out about the body art on this is the number 2 decal was from an a Fox sheet. This Striker kit should really have the box art 6 that came with it.

This and the Sonic Fighter are the two cars I bitterly regret selling from my collection. Actively trying to get them again and building from new parts.

Looks very clean and tidy, have one of these myself which is a mixture of new and old parts. Its currently sat in a sealed tub as I lack the room to display it, but I'm still undecided whether I like it or not ??? Still like others have said it has its unique place in history so it will stay for now.... maybe one day become as sought-after as the blazers and hotshot mk1 etc.... I doubt it will but maybe it should... personally I would keep yours as it is, little nod to its past .

Super neat example Cameron. Did you end up restoring the body?

Thank you! I think so too
This project is still ahead for me. I hope to do it this summer.
