TRAXXAS UNLIMITED DESERT RACER
This is my 1/7th 'Pro Scale' 4WD Traxxas Unlimited Desert Racer (UDR) RTR that I purchased used from Facebook market place (NOT EBAY! :) in September 2021 for $500.00 USD with free s/h. I never had any intention of adding this to my collection and didn't even know they existed until a few months before I got this one. However, I had been cleaning/rebuilding my first (used) Traxxas Slash 4x4 when I stumbled across this incredibly scale desert racing truck online and instantly knew it was too scale to resist. Fortunately, I was not willing to shell out the $800.00 USD price for a new one so I started searching for a nice used example and after a couple of months spotted this one. This one is an earlier version without the LED lights and is in great shape, lightly used and came with the body, radio, box, manual and related paperwork, a bunch of spare parts, extra drive shaft and sway bars, aftermarket GPM sway bar arms, two lipo packs, extra shock oil and some spare tools. Upon close inspection, this thing is ridiculously accurate and a dedicated replica of Justin Lofton's 1:1 rig. It has a tube chassis, solid axle/4-link in the rear with limiting straps, independent suspension up front with front/rear sway bars, two shocks per wheel, simulated cooling fans, oil coolers, fire extinguishers, a spare axle, two batteries, spare oil containers, fuel filler caps and a floor jack with handle. They come RTR with a Traxxas Velineon VXL ESC and a 2200kv brushless motor capable of running 2S - 6S lipo power. You have your choice of a blue 'Traxxas/Method Wheels' livery (my favorite), orange 'Fox/Multicam' livery (close second favorite) and a red 'Rigid' livery and they are intended to simulate the real driving experience of the 1:1 vehicle with all it's capabilities and limitations. It is NOT meant to be a ballistic, bulletproof basher you can send off a 20 foot jump or flip off a skateboard ramp three times -- despite what many of you may have seen on YT :). The seller was great to deal with and told me ahead of time that the front sway bar was broken so I repaired that so it's ready to run. Other then an eventual cleaning and adding some protective metal plating under the chassis and axle this will remain stock for now. Thanks for looking and hope you enjoy.

The UDR is an awesome beast. I've been wanting one for a while but don't think I'd get enough use out of it for the price. Maybe I'll look around for a used one. Traxxas definitely makes some awesome vehicles. The UDR is so true to the real deal, really impressive.

@871c2: Unlike some enthusiasts particularly from the younger generation, I'm definitely late to the Traxxas party but I have since accumulated five of their various vehicles and really like them! I do agree that knowing you'll actually use a UDR is the only way to justify the price even for a used one. It's only the second $500 r/c vehicle I've ever had and the first (my Arrma Outcast) was purchase for me as a birthday present a few years ago so I don't normally spend that kind of money on one vehicle.

@Basket Case: Totally understand. As I mentioned above, in ~35 years in the hobby this is the first time I've shelled out $500 for a rig. I barely convinced myself to spend that because it was the absolute lowest price I found after a couple of months of searching and negotiating. I also have a large parts lot I recently acquired most of which I will be selling off to make some money back.
