Tamiya Sand Scorcher Mk1....
Hi guys been working on this Sand Scorcher for a while its was pretty bad when l got it but have kept as much original character as I can warts and all especially the body! I am still missing door handles, indicators and a few other bits but here it is!
I believe this is a Mk1 Scorcher because of the need of inner bearings on the rear arms and it has screws on the front shock towers to adjust the front tension spring! So that's really cool!! I have put some modern gear in as electrics apart from an old School 540 ! Sorry no action pics yet as I still need to get a hump pack battery but the weather was good so jumped at the chance to get some pics! Hope you like the retro rough and ready look its way too cool to make improvements on lol.
Thanks for looking and comments welcome cheers James.
Update 18/9/22
Pic 1 & 11 with now added door handles(3D printed) and mirrors and new bumper!

Looking good James! Great photos as always too. Love the look of the body, not over restored. As they say, it's only original once!!

I have to agree that the Sand Scorcher is Tamiya's most Iconic car. I remember that when I first saw it in 1982 (my friend got one for New Year) that I was impressed with it's speed and looks. Now, almost 40 years later I am building as we speak one. So it has to be iconic! Nice design btw!

Looks like the perfect habitat James . Great model and pictures

Wow James, Sand Scorcher in a place where it belongs. Beautiful pictures as always. Your example has a twist of vinatge and bad a$$ look due to yellow. I like that!!

Yep Mk1 (or early vintage as some prefer) parts there’s James, I did a lot of research when I restored an original Rough Rider and those are some of the tell tales signs. Great looking original mate, in its very own domain there, excellent

I have to get a runner body so I can start enjoying the Sand Scorcher in its natural element. Great shots!

It looks great James !!
I tested my Sand Schorcher on the beach a few years ago, maybe need to recharge some batteries and take a trip to the beach now that no people are sunbathing

I really like this. I like that it's not pristine and I especially like that it isn't blue & white!
Yes it must be the most iconic because it's the only video I bothered to stand & watch in the toy shop

It sure is a beauty!
