(4th PLACE.......SHOW OFF) MY COMP ENTRY 2021!
I will start off with happy new year everyone!!
This is my comp entry...l am going to show off my past success in a very special time in the hobby! This photo shows my old Boomerang with my trophies l won in my racing days in that fantastic golden era! Some of those trophies l won with my Frog & Fox but majority won with my Boomerang! What a classic car to drive in such a classic time! Definitely very proud of what l achieved back in the day! Good luck everyone who enters and Cheers to all.

Wow that's cool. I wish I could say I had the skill or discipline to actually get my Frog or even RC 10 into a race much less place when I was younger man. Most of my races were off the back ledge in the garden. Great for you to have those winning memories - and the photo!

Thanks guys really great comments. l really do get a genuine buzz and a big smile when I reminisce about those old days! This photo is very important to me and yes you guessed it this photo is in a frame on the wall in my happy corner! To have been part of the golden era makes it even more special being back into the hobby again today! I was never the top dog on track but held my own l would say. I raced on a dust track with jumps, ramps etc every Sunday at my local club and sometimes we visited other clubs and raced them too! We raced Mardave minis in the Winter in the townhall so it was all year round rc fun but the off road was my thing! It was so simple back then though compared with today with all the high tech stuff! The racing was basic fun racing! One day in the future it would be great to travel too a vintage race meet! But for now l will stay retired haha and a bit of fun on the beach will do just fine! Very sadly l don't have these now, when l left home they went up into the loft never to be seen again!
The golden era will never be repeated but lt has to be said the hobby is in very good health still and long may it continue! Merry Christmas guys.

Great photo. Do you still have the Boomerang? I too am really glad I was part of the golden age. First Tamiya in 1987 and started racing in 1990 with a Manta Ray, and raced through to about 1999. Then I returned to racing again in 2009 until now. It's such a great hobby, with great people. Especially on here!

Yeah mate it was an amazing time and we are lucky dudes to be back in this great hobby again all these years later! Similar to you but l was 1983- 89 to 2008-presant day! and long may it continue too!

I was exactly the same back in the day James, race days every 2nd Sunday with my Fox was all I cared about in the mid 80’s, the rest of the days in between was all about getting ready for those race days. Great pic and memories, Merry Xmas and good luck in the comp mate

Haha thanks mate you remember the excitement then of the build up to Sunday! Fantastic stuff l loved racing my Fox too it was such a step up from my very loved Frog! The Fox was so smooth in the suspension compared to the frog!
But my Boomer with its 4wd really opened up a whole new world of control! What amazing times and now we get to be involved in the magic of RC all over again! Happy days!

Haha thanks mate l used to practice a lot lt was fun racing and not too serious but l was right into it big time and really tried my best!

Thanks buddy some of my memories from my rc days are very vivid indeed but some are very blurry just like this old photo lol getting old! 49 years young in June!
