Had this in the box for a while and finally got around to building it! I got this because l sold my candy hopper a while back regretfully and no tamiya collection should be without the Iconic grasshopper in it! ( boxart of course) one of the best looking buggies and the picture on the actual box of this buggy jumping in the air! Just how long did l stare at this box in the shop window back in the day? I can tell you a very long time every time l past the shop window! Probably for sure my favourite box boxart and the actual boxart on the buggy is one of the coolest too! A basic marvel the Grasshopper is! thanks for looking cheers James.

4 Grasshopper totally iconic! 1 Beautiful from any angle! 3 Look at it!!! 2 Boxart! 2 So cool!!! 1 Slightly different spot light decals! 1 Used a Thundershot driver figure! 1 380 sport tuned..... Scary power!!! 1 Red wheel nuts of course! 3 Grasshopper! thanks for looking! 1 That's it folks!

Fantastic shots (and model) James! I absolutely love the GH and it will always be one of my favorites even though I don't get to use it much. I also agree that if any Tamiya collector or enthusiast does not have a Hopper in their collection then they are not truly a Tamiya enthusiast...How is that 380 Sport Tuned motor? I was running the 540 in mine but recently went back to the original 380. With the original paddle tires a 540 is just unecessary in the Hopper. I'm happy with the regular 380, but a Sport Tuned might be a nice in between upgrade.

Very very cool James! An absolute classic, and you've built it beautifully too. I got my daughter one for Christmas, built it together, and we've just taken it out this evening for it's first run. I also love the boxart, but most importantly she is over the moon with it! Nice little addition adding the o-rings to the front shock towers, and one other question...what pen do you use for the tyre lettering? Mine doesn't have a fine enough tip to paint the tiny lettering on these tyres! Cheers.

Such a classic and on the beach of course! Must be my all time favourite RC because it was my first! (as for so many) The Tundershot driver is a good match.
Love the magazine. In capitals 'EFFECTIVE FRONT AND REAR SUSPENSION SYSTEM' LOL

Nice hopper does it have the 380 motor?, mine is not quite boxart as it’s yellow but I got it like that and left it original

As always I’m envious of where you live James …… but I’ll get my one week a year down there in may.

Thanks for these great comments guys really appreciated! Mate an original would of be nice but this will do nicely. keep working on yours mate! Yeah this little 380 sport tuned pulls nicely definitely worth getting but l have only run it indoors so far! Nice little motor looks wise too!
Iol that magazine does make the Grasshopper look and sound like something that could challenge RC10!
The pen Phil is a fine tip sharpie still bloody tough on the eyes though took me all l had lol.
Dave we have had nothing but gray and rain lol this was the first decent day for ages! I jumped on it! Yellow looks great on the hopper too!

It's always great to see a Grasshopper and even better on a beach! The Thunder Shot interior will do a top job of reducing sand in the chassis on the little gem, nicely done all round James!

Beautifully done James!! I know any Tamiya RC collection should have GH in it of course!! I'm sorry you sold the candy green edition. I know original always wins, but somehow that candy green edition kinda grew on me and recently installed the LED headlights for my GH CGE. I will post some photos when I can!! Always a pleasure to see your awesome cars on the beach!!

Great. You know I remember as a kid having a Radio Shack brand Lamborghini Countache RC car that I thought was the highest in tech because it went forward and reverse lol. Could only run on super smooth surfaces. Used six AA batteries, and I could only run it when my allowance allowed for their replacement.
Then a little down the line I could finally go to a hobby shop with my father and (in place of getting a bike) I saw these cars for the first time. I couldn't believe someone was making RC cars that could actually go on grass outside, through water and dirt. I was in love. My first was the Super Champ, which was already dated in 1986(maybe?). A friend had the Grasshopper. I think all of us remember having just enough money to get our first buggy, and all these years later the thrill of being able to buy one new again is like a literal time machine. That sensation and the smell of those new rubber tires is like a direct portal back in time.
