Always loved the look of this car. I remember seeing it in the Tamiya catalog. Super aggressive styling and 4wd. Enjoy the build on this and look forward to the updates....

It would have to be right up there as one of Tamiya's most iconic 4wd vehicles. I bet you're going to have a ball building it. I can't wait to see it on the beach!

I love the Hotshot!
its look, and the way the rear suspension was designed!
I also love the special stand with the U shaped piano wire!
Lots of love and passion have been fueled into the design of the Hotshot...

Not much to say really James! I just love the Hotshot as you'll know by my showroom! Just so cool and way ahead of its time. Even in 2022 it doesn't look dated!! Can't wait to see the finished build mate.

i was club racing in the 80s hotshots did really well against boomerangs ,pb mini mustangs, kyosho's and schumachers of the time and it was the better looking of the group and there i was in 2wd class with my grasshopper wishing i had a hotshot ,now i have both and more but no longer race brca ruined racing for me still love the cars though

I remember we looked through the Tamiya catalogs time and time again. Always stopped at the pictures of the Hot Shot.
It was fun building the re-release!
Enjoy the moment James!

Thanks for the great comments guys! I am blown away with the models you guys put on this club! Very inspirational! Well I think it looks like we all share the same passion for the Hotshot! Its one of the super stars of the rc timelime for sure! Would be nice if tamiya rere the Hotshot 2 next!

Hotshot2 would be ace for sure, I'm lucky to own an original with essentialy brand new vintage parts so sadly I'm not willing to run the old girl.... my driving skills ain't that good and also fitted with original MSC so risks too high... however a reasonably priced re re would possibly be my 1st new build in over 7 or 8 years.... would love a super sabre re re too though ??

Haha Justin l want them both too! But the Hotshot 2 would get the nod! If it gets rere of course? I was so sceptical about rere cars years back when they first started and was thinking they would harm the vintage side of the hobby and effect people's interest in the hobby but definitely not the case the re-release cars have fuel injected the hobby and its super fantastic and l am totally 100% for re-release cars now and loving them! and like you said you would not dare drive your original HS2 but if rere it would give you the opportunity to rag one about with no worries! Cheers buddy.

Oh yes, an icon for sure, was one of my very first kits when I got back into RC and Tamiya. I’ve recently been thinking I would like another as they just really are awesome looking machines. This and the Supershot take pride of place in my collection. Enjoy mate

That has surprised me Scollins l think its about time you set that record straight! Its a gorgeous buggy and such a inventive design for something from 1985 and just so iconic! I started the build today and loving it! Taking my time to savour this one though no rush! Thanks mate.

Hi Mad-Bee , please let me know if there are difference between the rerelase and vintage version ?

MAD-BEE

18-Apr-2022

Hi my friend, yeah they do have a few differences between the two! On the rere the resistors are fake and has different drive shafts and a little inspection lid in the chassis and slight difference in decals! But l must admit l am not 100% sure of all the differences! Hope this was helpful mate?

Thanks Mick l am loving this build! I have had a hotshot before in my collection but have never built one from new its a very enjoyable kit to put together l am finding so far! Doing a restoration is very satisfying indeed but building a kit from new is equally satisfying! Take it easy mate.
Cheers buddy.
