1978 kyosho Eleck Peanuts
Hi guys now this is an interesting post and was a surprise buy from me really l certainly was not looking out for it!
I know little about this buggy but know some info, plus the bonus was that l picked it up for £60. This the Kyosho Eleck Peanuts from 1978, and Kyosho's first electric rc car l believe?
The condition is mint l can't believe its from 1978! it seems too good lol. Well maybe someone out there has built a time machine?
Anyway, the tyres are soft and supple and the suspension all working in its primitive way. The gears running smoothly! All the MSC working! The bodyshell is in amazing condition too! I am in love with this little dune buggy! What a part of Kyosho's history to have in my collection!
Thanks for looking and comments welcome as always. Any more info on this would be amazing!
Cheers James.
Update 27/1/2023 Now added a driver figure for a little bit more realism!
Update 1/2/2023 had this running today! Maybe that beach run will happen?

A great find James, and I enjoyed reading the info you've posted. It looks like a fresh build that's never turned a wheel. How did you find such a bargain mate?!
MAD-BEE
Yeah mate l just stumbled upon it on ebay and it was an action with offers and l put in a very cheeky offer because money is tight for us right now. Well I never really expected this at all but the guy accepted my offer! Like you said mate lts like this has just come back from the past in a time machine!

You're very lucky James, that's mint. They are such a cool little buggy! I think both the front and rear suspension are quite a clever design.
mtbkym01
Wow what a find, that is amazing condition for such an early car.
MAD-BEE
Yeah totally agree the suspension is a fascinating design mate very vintage cool and unique!
Yours looks amazing too MP!
@mtbkym01 l am still amazed at the condition its 44 years old! Its in better nick then me! Crazy!

Wow, that's awesome, James! What a perfect example of Kyosho RC history. I'm very jealous! ??
Scanox
Wow!
I have to say that you have hit the spot with this purchase!
I have seen a couple of incomplete projects for sale here in Norway at much higher prices!
MAD-BEE
Thanks Mick, mate you know how l feel seeing your Super cool collection on YouTube lol. Thanks mate l got lucky with this one for sure its a cracker!
@Scanox l have seen a few but this has never been on my radar really and as you said they are always looking pretty beat up or incomplete! Very pleased l pulled the trigger now though. Yeah very happy with this! Thanks mate.

OMG that is a good find mate! I must admit I don't find it to be a cool or pretty model, like the old Tamiyas. Generally Kyosho back then was more 'function over looks' whilst Tamiya I guess was more the opposite But a very important piece of history. Myself I have one of those really old Kyosho models with inflatable tires and a monster gearbox sticking out the back
SHY69
Looks kinda occult when you see a driverless car in action like that!
Awesome when you add background history like this!
MAD-BEE
I think the earlier Kyosho definitely looked a little odd and basic not quite the model company tamiya was at the start! but for sure earlier Kyosho's were very unique! is that Kyosho with the big gearbox sticking out in your showroom mate? I will have to go have a look.
SHY69
No it's not in the showroom yet. I need to restore it first. It's on ice for now My next project is airbrushing my gokart helmet
MAD-BEE
Cool its always a nice feeling having projects on ice! Especially in the winter months! Gokart sounds fun!

It's fun - but also very physically demanding! I did a lot of rental karting before getting a pro kart. Outdoors we did 6 hours races where we ran 2 hours straight each. With my pro kart on the same track I'm done for after 15 mins I'm also on a diet now to be competitive come spring
MAD-BEE
@SHY69 You live halfway around the world from me and I have never met you in person but one thing I can tell about you mate is you don't like entering things just to make up the numbers you're in it to win it or at least be right up there, that's impression I get and why the hell not! I'm not a big man but but as age creeps up so does the timber! I think I would have to do a diet for a while just to get fit and competitive too! My wife tells me I'm exactly the same as when she met me 30 + years ago but in truth I feel she's being a little kind!
SHY69
Well, it's a little bit more complex than that. It's more like doing 100% of your own abilities, and improving and learing vs yourself. On some arenas I can win if all goes well. On others I have to be realistic - not gonna happen But it's way more fun to join the party than to sit on your ass at home I've seen guys come dead last and be more happy with the weekend than the guy in the runner up spot on the podium. It's all about expactations and perspective. For racing I just enjoy the 'whole package'. And I honestly enjoy other's success as well.
You need to challenge yourself in order to feel alive. You only live once - and you also gotta get some things done now before you are too old physically. Mentally I guess we will always stay young

What a find!… I’ve only seen in the history books as it were… I do love a dune buggy and this is ace… is it going to get gentle run?… I don’t if I could… surely belongs in the re-re legendary series …. Bostin’

Thanks guys for all the great comments.

SHY69
Awesome idea with the Sand Rover driver - much better init!
MAD-BEE
Thanks mate yeah looks a lot more complete!
i bought one of these as a project in around 1985,, no body, the chassis tub had been cut just behind the front axle and the front part was missing, the motor and speed controller had also been removed so never got round to doing anything with it. I still have all the parts, wheels, tyres,, gearbox , and a few other bits and pieces

I bought one of these in pieces in the early 1980's. No motor or body, the tub had been cut in 2 where the front suspension arms go. It looked like it had been hardly used with no wear to the tyres. i still have the parts
