I finished this a few days ago and was waiting for some decent weather to run it and take some nice photos, but I may be waiting a while so I thought I'd list it anyway, particularly as I have a couple of tips that may be useful to anyone else that may be in the middle of their builds. It's all stock with the addition of full bearings, and is all RTR for when the weather improves.
I have to say that I loved building this. I've never had a Hotshot II, and although it's similar to the Super Hotshot and Hotshot I, it was still a great experience. I also love the features that some people hate about it! The higher roof line with the Fox/Bigwig driver looks so much more scale than the original.
One little touch I did that it doesn't say to do in the manual but should, is I painted the black plastic part that is the fake resistor white. It now looks much better behind the resistor heatsink.
The manual does have an error in it though. I've added pictures to show it. I've not seen any of the YouTube channels mention it, but then they're rushing the builds to make content so maybe they've missed it. When installing the clear plastic side plates on the frame it says to remove two of the cable ties that hold the window netting on to provide clearance for the silver piece, but it should also say to remove the two at the rear, otherwise when you screw down the clear plastic pieces they don't sit flat and bend. This is related to my second point, which is that when cutting the side window netting make sure that it extends past the screw holes. This will be clearer and make sense in the pictures below.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy and like the build. Comments welcome as always. Thanks.

Update: 10 March 2023
Really pops now with yellow tyre lettering.
I can't believe that this is only a standard 540 and not the Sport Tuned. This thing flies!!

5 3 3 3 I love the roof height and scale look! 2 4 With white 'resistor' 3 Make sure netting extends past these 2 holes 2 Remove the 2 rear cable ties as well as 2 fronts 5 Tamiya promo pics don't show cable ties! 2 I'll let you decide...! 1 2 My Blockhead Motors collection

I do prefer the higher roof line on the BH HSII then compare to the HS. I swear it’s not as low on my original HSII.

Looking fantastic Phil and nice touch with the resistor! The two together in the last 2 pics look a force to be reckons with! Tyre lettering would be good on the BHM 2 like the one you did yourself but looks way better the more l see these mate!
I can't wait for the original to be rere it has to happen righ

Beautifully done Phil!! Yes, I think you're right about the higher roof line and larger driver make the car look more in scale with better proportion. As always, your new car looks fantastic!!

Thanks for the comments guys. Glad I'm not the only one that likes the higher roof line! The roof height in reality looks better than the box art image IMO. I will be doing yellow tyre lettering James when I can get a pen. I only have white. I want yellow to match the accents on the car, although this car is going to be used so it'll likely come off anyway! Cheers guys.

I totally agree, I prefer this new BH version to the original too. Not that I'd complain about having either version!
Excellent work and beautiful photos.

This one turned out great!
I still have stickers left on mine, can't do much of my own projects at the moment
Hopefully I'll be done by the weekend!

Thanks delux and Scanox, it's a beautiful kit. I know the problem with time. I think I'll have the weekends, but my kids activities have to take priority! I just get the odd hour here and there, so it's a lot of stop starting, but eventually it gets finished!

Love your Blockhead gang Phil and yeah buddy the yellow tyre lettering is spot on!

Thanks James, yeah I think the yellow does work on this buddy. I can't wait for some better weather to be able to take it for a proper blast! I'm intrigued by the motor though. It is part marked as a 540SH, but it's quicker than my standard Hotshot which has the same gearing, esc and bearings. With it's black and red wires it looks like the Sport Tuned so maybe it's wishful thinking!!

You are not the first to say this! Maybe its a sport tuned or torque tuned?? Iol Maybe its not just a pretty sticker??

Can I ask, wanting son to get into these rc builds. I used to build lots of them years ago, Any recommendations on a start for him to go at. He is Autistic and loves building things.
Love the build you've done.

Hi, thanks for your comment. I'd start him off on something like the Tamiya Hornet. They're a simple build and easy to paint. It comes with the 540 motor which will keep him more interested with the driving than the slower 380 motor that comes with the Grasshopper kit. It's 2WD rather than 4WD like the Hotshot. Something like the Hotshot would be a great second kit and they're readily available, unlike some kits that regularly go in and out of stock. Hope that helps you.
