Runner!
This is what re-re's are all about, building one and having a good bash like the old days! No worries about old fragile brittle plastic parts failing, and the associated lack of or crazy priced replacements. I always wanted an Egress back in the day, but my paper round money couldn't quite cover the eye watering asking price tag. These days I have a proper job, and although it's still an expensive kit, I couldn't resist getting my hands on one and actually seeing how they drive. The motor is a Tamiya 10.5T and with 2S lipo it goes like stink. As can be seen from the photos, I installed a low profile servo in an upright position, which works better than the original set up. For running I have another body and under tray, and several sets of wheels and tires. Its great fun to drive, although I'm sure it's pretty rubbish compared to a modern racing buggy. I think I need to reduce the pinion size, as it's a little too fast...

It's so refreshing to see one of these getting dirty, marvellous. Aren't the plastics on these reinforced? How does it hold up with a 10.5t?

Thanks a lot! I believe the plastics used on the re-re’s are superior and more modern to the materials on the original, but I don’t have any evidence to back this up. The only thing I’ve broken is the front carbon shock tower, which is very weak and will break with the first roll. So I made a new beefier one. I was a bit nervous dropping a 10.5 motor in, but the gears and ball diffs are holding up just fine!

Good to know. I've got a Black Edition in the small build queue. I will be careful with it, but still gonna thrash it a little...
