Just about hobby grade lol, just about?
Paid just £30 for this interesting 80s buggy! Has the Marui Galaxy vibe slightly?? This was Yonezawa's challenger to the big companies back then? I imagine it failed pretty bad to complete with anything hobby grade apart from maybe the Hoppers! but in 2024 what a super cool thing to own and run! Very unique! Did a little work on it and modern electrics and added a driver and of course tyre lettering! then time for a quick blast around the garden! A really fun buggy to drive actually and fairly quick! I found a bit on the history of this buggy and the company
Tamiya rival? this company Yonezawa! well l don't think so lol but they were famous for making tin robots in the 50s 60s and 70s, but in the 80s they turned their attention to the R/C car craze, of which the Land Dash and the Missiler were their most high performance R/C models. In some markets, the Yonezawa Land Dash was rebranded under the Monogram brand, and sold as the Monogram Lightning. Powered by an RS-540S motor and coming with a Digital Proportional transmitter, the Land Dash and Missiler were designed to compete with the popular hobby buggies of the day such as the Tamiya Hornet and others. Unlike others however, it was sold in ready-to-run form, requiring no assembly and with a transmitter already included. These fast, and attractive vintage buggies with lots of elements that were used in this era with its realistic off-road buggy looks and sponsor logos, fat tyres, and a large front bumper and RS 540S motor!
I found this info on the net, l didn't know much about this company and its RCs cars before picking this buggy up! So interesting stuff indeed for me too! I always love learning about new, old different things in this hobby! Thanks again for looking guys cheers James.

2 YONEZAWA MISSILER 1 Yellow version on box 2 All the juicy spec! RS-540S Power reaching 26kmh 2 No diff but solid enough gears etc! 1 Fitted with modern electrics for running! 1 RS-540S and mono rear shock! 2 I had to take it for a light run around for kicks 2 Actually goes really well for what it is! 2 The original electrics with swipe board msc 1 Something a little different for sure!

Great find mate, quite the underdog! I had no idea it existed. I love oddball buggies, and the mono rear shock definitely is something different! Quite a looker too

Thanks Ferruz l have to say its actually more stable to drive then my GH2 so they had something but l can see many weak points especially in the mount points on that mono shock and in front suspension! Gearbox is well put together though!

I'm amazed at how cheaply you pick up these gems. I have one as well but I paid a whole lot more for mine. My next door neighbor had one when we were young. I do remember seeing them being sold at the Australian K-mart store.
