I decided to build the Boomerang that was the dreams of 11 year old me. I remember that it didn't take long after building my first Tamiya RC car, the Boomerang, that I wanted it to look better and go faster! I stared at the Tamiya Guide Book for hours wishing that I could have the Technigold motor and gold wheels with pin spikes like they suggested in their image I've attached here. It just didn't happen and I moved on to other cars. Whilst I still have that original car, when I restored it, I decided to leave it stock, but I wanted to build a rere, and this gave me the idea of adding those options. I won't be leaving the Technigold motor in here though as it belongs in a vintage model, but I wanted to run it properly and remember how quick those motors were. I've run my original Bigwig with it's original Technigold and MSC, but with a modern ESC this thing flies. Of course modern brushed motors are quicker, but for its day it really was special. I rebuilt and cleaned up the motor and it runs beautifully. The car is fully ball raced of course, but the rest is all rere including the rere darker gold wheels.
Thanks for looking. Cheers.

1 1 Vintage goodness! 3 2 The guide book image I wanted to replicate 1 What the original box suggested for hop-ups 1 Beginning a full strip down and clean 1 Referring to my mint condition Bigwig manual

Looking fantastic Phil especially with the gold wheels and pin spikes! Mate l have epic memories from back in day driving my old Boomer! Such a classic in its own right! I have to say too those guide books were evil they tortured me for what seems years!

That looks great. My first RC car was a surprise Boomerang for Christmas 1987. I too spent many hours looking through the guide book and the hop ups. I really wanted bearings and a Technigold but sadly could never afford one. Hope you enjoy driving this.

Love the gold wheels/pin spikes combo on this. That combo was a dream for any of us back in the 80’s I’d say. At least it was for me and you by the looks. Great build, well done
