I'm a Ferrari fan, but the 1998 McLaren MP4/13 is one of my favourite ever F1 cars.
Came across this partially built car for a very good price on Ebay, decided to buy it and finish it off with some upgrades (adjustable rear pod with carbon F104 axle, TRF shock, carbon steering knuckles, 'high torque' servo saver and steel turnbuckles). This was my first F103, was keen to try it out but quite disappointed by its handling, especially on foam tyres. The car is just about enjoyable to drive on its rather low-grip stock rubber tyres, due to its overly flexible FRP chassis; if fitted with stickier rubber or foams it just ties itself together in turns while bouncing along on the straights as the suspension does not really work. Finding the necessary parts to make it work (carbon chassis, full-length upper deck) was too difficult and expensive to be worth it, so i decided to sell it after coming across a NIB 15th Anniversary kit at a reasonable enough price. The electronics from this car were later used to power the latter.
