I decided to trip in front of the finish line (I didn't paint a driver!)    on another stalled project. September of '23    I scored a second Fighter Buggy RX (FBRX), because I was after it's perfect shell to use on my first FBRX. So then I had this great chassis to work with - but what to do?    Coincidentally I then bought the correct radio set parts that I would need, before I knew it - I just wanted it for my collection.

Some time    later, I stumbled across a mint XB Mad Bull body. Now, I had the XB Mad Bull Special on my wish list, but they just never seem to come up for sale. So with the body score, I set about building the Mad Bull Special from parts. Not just any Mad Bull Special though, I wanted the early 2001 model (57709) with smoke parts and the older ADSPEC GP radio set (AM), not the 2011 model (57813) without the smoke parts and a newer FineSpec radio set (2.4G) - you know, because I'm an idiot and like the abuse. So today it all came together (not the driver!) and I took for a spin and some pics.

I threw this timeline together because it amuses me that I dedicated this much time/effort for this (not a) toy, but meanwhile I have a hundred more useful things I need done    around the house that are    no closer to being completed over the same 19 month period, LOL:

9/13/23 - FBRX #2

12/09/24 - XB set of MSC, Servos and Rx for ADSPEC GP (Missing Tx)

5/24/24 - Tx to complete ADSPEC GP Radio Set

7/30/24 - XB Body

8/10/24 - Red Dampers

8/19/24 - Wheels & Tires, Steering Arm    Bag

10/08/24 - Smoke Parts

10/27/24 - Metal Parts Bag C

Today - 4/14/25 - Installed Radio Set w/ MSC

Oh and uh, the old XB kits probably didn't come with painted drivers installed in them anyway . . . right?

RIGHT?!?

Wow! Thats Awesome! Great timeline, all good things and all that. Never seen a clear gearbox before looks great.

It was good as it was with the vintage electronics, transparent gearbox, I remember I saw one in Ettlingen in 1999, but as the release date was only 2001, I assume that was a previous model with big wheels, the kid played in front of the outdoor racing track I visited while being in Karlsruhe at the university studying mechanics.

@2quik Thanks!

@Nitrocrushy You know what? There was another Mad Bull Special, but a build kit 49174 released earlier than this one. If it was black with the clear parts, then I'll bet that's what you saw!
